jaketame 86
Hi, I have the new Sony KD-49XF9005 with Sony XT-HF9000 soundbar. Connected via HDMI to the soundbar so supports all audio codecs. I'm having issues with DirectPlay in that its not finding a DirectPlay profile... This happens on both 4K and 1080p content. Also in a REMUX it seems to consume the all available memory, its not removing the older stream files from transcoding temp folder. TV itself supports : MPEG1:MPEG1/MPEG2PS:MPEG2/MPEG2TS(HDV,AVCHD):MPEG2,AVC/MP4(XAVCS):AVC,MPEG4,HEVC/AVI:Xvid,MotionJpeg/ASF(WMV):VC1/MOV:AVC,MPEG4,MotionJpeg/MKV:Xvid,AVC,MPEG4,VP8.HEVC/WEBM:VP8/3GPP:MPEG4,AVC/MP3/ASF(WMA)/WAV/MP4AAC/FLAC/JPEG Soundbar supports: HDMI INPUT Dolby® Digital, Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby® TrueHD, Dolby Atmos®,Dolby® Dual mono,DTS®,DTS-HD High Resolution Audio™,DTS-HD Master Audio™,DTS-ES,DTS 96/24,DTS:X™,LPCM(2ch / 5.1ch / 7.1ch), DSD(2ch / 5.1ch), OPTICAL INPUT Dolby® Digital,Dolby® Dual mono,DTS®, LPCM 2ch USB DSD(.dsf / .diff), Wav, Flac, Alac(.m4a only), AIFF, HE AAC, AAC, mp3, Monkey Audio, WMA, Ogg Vorbis BLUETOOTH(RECEIVER) SBC, AAC Attached logs. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-d59b4b42-4a8c-40e8-a1ca-30e0c2aa84d1.txt ffmpeg-remux-2cb45f53-dbd8-4466-a408-1249e146c3fd.txt
ebr 14935
The only thing converted was the audio (from DTS to DD). There is an option in the app of whether or not to bitstream DTS. Is it turned on?
jaketame 86
The only thing converted was the audio (from DTS to DD). There is an option in the app of whether or not to bitstream DTS. Is it turned on? Thanks for looking at it. I’ve looked the setting and can’t seem anything that mentions DTS... It’s strange you mention it’s only audio that’s transcoded as I see the entire movie get put into /transcode folder? ebr 14935
Its possible the environment isn't advertising support for DTS. If you follow the instructions to send a log from the app when you play the greatest showman, I can take a look.

jaketame 86
As a work around I’ve disable transcoding as I know all my devices support what I have content wise... Did you get the log ok for it not detecting correctly?
ebr 14935
Your system is reporting only DD is available. This may be due to exactly how things are connected (for instance, not all things are supported via an Audio Return Channel) or settings in the TV itself. If you force the item to direct stream, it plays properly with sound?

I can’t seem to find it it’s not supported via ARC on the TV but https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/sound-bars/ht-xf9000/specifications shows all is available... When I force DirectPlay audio plays perfectly.

I think maybe I found it but the playback was for so long that I can't see the details from when it started. The DTS track is being decoded in the player and sent to your receiver as PCM stereo.

Anything else I can do?

This is all specific to the hardware, configuration and connections involved. While your soundbar may be able to accept DTS, your TV is not able to send DTS to it from our app. This could be due to settings in the TV or it could be a limitation of the implementation in the TV. Sending DTS audio out from the TV would require the TV manufacturer to license that ability. Considering that almost nothing sourced by the general public via the internal Android interface in the TV would contain DTS audio (streaming or broadcast is either stereo or Dolby) I can understand why they may not have done that. Looks like Plex has a similar issue, apparently it’s the third party APIs that are not available?
