2.9.9 - Live TV broken (partly working)

2.9.9 broke Live TV for me, endless spinning circle on some channels, while some do work.

All channels are from same DVB-C source.

Reverting back to my system.old folder which contained Emby Theater 2.9.7 where I don't have ANY problems with Live TV.

How do I prevent Emby Theater to update itself, with a setting, just like in Emby Server where a setting is available to prevent auto update ?

I don’t think there currently is an option in the app.

I think server and ET are both updated by electron.exe and it might be possible to block where they host their updates, which I think is in aws

54.213.88.69

But manual updating would be required

I wouldn't have to report it if it was also fine with my setup...

So something must have changed in 2.9.9, that it doesn't like the same channels that 2.9.7 was perfectly happy and functional with.

This is not the only 2.9.9 topic where users report problems with.

The only thing that would affect this is the updated mpv player. you could try replacing the executable with the one from 2.9.6.

Replaced mpv.exe with the one found in my system.old directory and channel which doesn't play with 2.9.9 plays fine with the mpv.exe from 2.9.7. From my monitoring of that encrypted DVB-C channel I can see that both mpv.exe trigger my official DVB-C smartcard to provide ECM's and that the DVB-C stream is handed over to Emby decrypted.

@@Luke , Attached the mpv logs for 2.9.7 vs 2.9.9 comparison

Sure, and only to replace mpv.exe from this release : mpv-i686-20180324-git-b4c6fb0 or deploy complete folder ?

Be careful with the shinchiro builds. They include more than lachs0r. Don't do anything other than unzip it. Unless you know what you're doing.

The last build I tried of theirs (it's been a few weeks), it wasn't correctly applying the refresh rate. I imagine it's fixed by now, but I haven't tested.

It should be fine, I just wanted to throw a caution, out there. They include the files to register mpv to the system, and to install some filters in their own mpv.conf.

I didn't install it, just deployed the mpv-i686-20180324-git-b4c6fb0 files in Emby mpv folder.

Made a backup copy of \AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system\x64\mpv folder first.

Tested my problem channel and channel loads fine too with files from mpv-i686-20180324-git-b4c6fb0.

Attached the log:

I just saw this thread. I havn't used Emby Theater in a while. Thought i would give it a try.

It just updated to 2.9.9.

LiveTV is completely broken for any channel. Spining circle.

Program has to be killed via task manager.

it does access and lock one of my tuners though.

Have to reboot server inorder to clear it.

The Win 10 Store app (UMP)?  still works fine and that is what i use anyway.

The only time i used the normal Emby Theater was for local files with MadVR....but I see that is removed now.

It seems to work fine in my testing but I'm sure this will vary per source. I will push out another update with the newer mpv.
