Back button not working on remote control in ET

I've just acquired an Rikomagic MK705 remote control > https://uk.gearbest.com/mice-keyboards/pp_104418.html

 

Sadly it seems that the back button doesn't work in Emby, bit of a deal breaker, which is a shame because its a pretty good quality pnp remote.

No software to install or configure so no key mapping options and while it has IR its only for TV control on a few buttons, the rest of the remote is RF.

 

Most of the other buttons function as you would expect.

Is this a remote problem or Emby problem?

Well if I click the button in windows the back button sends a right click, or right mouse click.

But that's not really a standard back command, right?

Well, true.

After some experimenting it seems the return/back button functions as a right click and the ok button on the D-Pad functions as a left click.

 

Left click is not a problem for selecting.

 

Right click is a problem. Likewise, the skip track forward and back don't work, yet they do in WMP. Play/pause is fine.

 

Please tell me there are mouse mappings I can edit for emby? xml?

Ok with a bit of digging, I have worked some of it out, though I've had to download the brilliant ATNSoft Key Mapper to get it working. I've not purchased it yet, and maybe won't, but it has the wonderful ability to identify key presses on the remote, which helps determine what clicks are doing what.

 

So the next track / previous track buttons on the remote are identified as player next track, so I would have expected this to work in Emby as it does in WMP, but it doesn't.

If I'm playing a music track in Emby, pressing the previous track button causes Emby to return to the previous screen and then locks up Theater, meaning I have to exit and start it up again.

 

Luckily, using this awesome key mapping software, I have got the 'right click' on the remote to function as the back button, and the next track / previous buttons to function as expected.

I love the ability of this software to recognize that I am using Emby and apply the key mappings, then when I leave Emby the remote is back to normal. I need that because the remote has a built-in air mouse that I use for Windows management and I need the right click to function as normal when not in Emby.

 

The nice part is, the software will work to configure any remote that functions as a keyboard or mouse in Windows, and if the keyboard/mouse controls change in Emby, I can just alter the key mapping rather than look for a new remote.

 

So here's hoping Emby continues to support keyboard/mouse lol.

 

I still have a few niggles. When I press the search button on the remote it opens the windows 10 search box on top of Emby and also opens Emby's search box. Key mapping the remote button to CTRL+S or using CTRL+S in Emby does nothing, has this keystroke been removed?

 

Secondly, the home button on the remote opens Emby Home, but also opens a browser window behind Emby, still looking at a workaround for that. 

 

Anyone know of any keyboard/mouse mapping software that is free? X-Mouse isn't sophisticated enough.
