jkballin 1
I access emby on my TV via my roku app and I have no trouble viewing the movies or the new movie trailers, however, I don't have the option of viewing the trailers for the movies that I uploaded. I know they are available because I can see them when I go to my emby app on my PC. Is this not an available feature or am I doing something wrong? ebr 14925
Hi. Uploaded where? Where do they show in the other app?
jkballin 1
When I go into my emby server app on my PC the option to view the trailers for my movies is available. I click on a movie and have the following options: Play, Trailer, Delete, (watched), (favorite), and additional options. But then when I go into my emby app on my TV (via Roku), there isn't an option to view my movie trailers (the Trailer option does not even appear). To be clear, I am referring to the trailers on MY movies, not the other feature that allows you to view upcoming movie trailers.
ebr 14925
You said you uploaded trailers somewhere? If you put actual trailer videos into your media, then they should show there in the Roku app as well. However, if you didn't do this and are just relying on the server functionality to go find trailers on the internet then these are usually sourced from YouTube and are just not playable (in any kind of reasonable fashion) on the Roku so they don't appear there.
DarkIVIachine 0
Extending on this thread (I hope I get responses to this, or should I start a new thread?) I am willing to use Media Companion to gather the necessary trailers and physically download them to my server so Emby can access them. My question is - what's the naming convention? Where do I put the trailers in order to get Emby to associate them with the correct movies? Is there any configuration necessary to get Emby to recognize these trailers? And - once I get all the movie trailers downloaded with the correct naming convention and have put them in the correct place, will they show up on Roku? Roku trailers are probably the most important feature for my users.I'm a veteran Plex user, but I'm steadily falling in love with Emby's as it is FAR more flexible than Plex. Being able to view trailers for all my movies is SUPER important to my users (Although granted, Plex's trailer system is nowhere near perfect).See the attached screenshot where the "Trailer" button is available on Roku. See? I KNOW it can be done! Thanks so much! Here's the screenshot:
DarkIVIachine 0
I think I found a solution. It looks like if you put all your movies in sub folders and then download the trailer off Youtube and rename the trailer to MovieName-trailer.mkv (or whatever extension the file is) Emby will recognize that as the trailer for the movie thats in the same subfolder with it.Using Media Companion (https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediacompanion/?source=typ_redirect) I have set it up to *only*: Move all movies to a subfolder and then automatically download the trailer and put it in the subfolder with the movie and add the "-trailer.mkv" extension. Taking a LOOOONG time with all the media I have, but otherwise I'd have to do it manually and well, nope to that.

Luke 37096
Right but YouTube's terms of use do not allow that and that's one reason why we'd rather not do that.
STR8 69
Hello All, I'm new to Emby just installed it 2 days ago but I needed help with trailers also. So when I log into the Emby server or (Local Host) on my desktop the option to view the trailer for the selected movie is there and works meaning it plays the trailer when clicked. The Trailer button on the Emby Server is the second button listed after the play button buttons are in this order - Play, Trailer, Delete, (check/watched), (heart/favorite), and the 3 dots please see the attachment named: Trailer Button On Emby Server to see (Also on the Emby server or Local Host there is a trailer for every Movie and TV Show that was added to the Media Library Added to Emby please see attachments) But then when I go into my Emby app on my TV (via Roku all new just bought this year), there isn't a trailer button to play the trailer for that selected Movie or TV Show when you go to watch a Movie or TV Show. (the Trailer button does not appear). I would also like to know how to set up my media library trailers to randomly play before a movie I select to watch... not referring to the paid version with the plugin just the please see settings attachment would like it to play all watched and unwatched. I hope this was explained correctly and I thank you for your help in advance... and I hope to hear back from someone soon.
