StefanWithEmby 0 Posted February 25, 2018 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Hello, I am running on a windows 10 machine two live tv players (to compare): 1. dvb viewer 2. emby theater - If I am using dvb viewer I see that lav filters becomes active. I can configure in the lav settings several properties (e..g hardware acceleration) - If I am using emby theater (the server is running on a different computer with dvb recording service from dvb viewer) I can't see that lav filters becomes active. Therefore my questions: - How can I check which video format is currently used? - How can i configure the decoding? The only time you might see the LAV tray icon pop up is if you chose to use MadVR. And MadVR is about to be removed. MPV is the player will be the only player being used. That uses ffmpeg and not directshow. As Luke is saying, the settings will be in the UI. If you want to see what is being used, you can look at the stats for nerds. Does MPV also take advantage of video decoding via intel cpu/gpu? (because I bought a silent pc without fan - therefore I guess that hw decoding is important for me) 2. Does live tv channel switching times also depend on the used video player system (e.g. ffmpeg vs directshow) If yes, are there any numbers known (e.g. x is factor y faster than z)? 3. Most windows players I am aware of are based on directx (media player classic, media portal, dvb-viewer, ...) Is the usage of MPV as good supported as directx? 4. When building a video player based on directshow, the player is highly susceptible to failure based on the way the user has configured and tinkered with Windows.
