docmagic 2
Hi guys, does ET have CEC built in or do I need another plugin to make it work? Thanks Doc
Guest asrequested
It should install with theater. You should see a popup during the installation.
docmagic 2
Thanks for the reply. I picked up one of the pulse eight CEC adapters today, will I need to reinstall ET whilst it's plugged in? It doesn't seem to have worked out of the box
Guest asrequested
It should be ready to use. I've never tried it. Make sure your devices are CEC enabled.
Luke 37096
You might if you declined the CEC install the first time around.
docmagic 2
Ok, so life story time... Long time MB user and noob ET user. Just purchased a new Samsung TV and it came with a little family friendly remote that fits in the hand better than my big bulky Logitech Harmony. Via the magic of HDMI-CEC I am able to control the Virgin Tivo box with it and would like to control ET too. I purchased a Pulse-Eight adapter and the TV doesn't seem to communicate with it out of the box. I will try a reinstall of ET later but I am sure I let the driver install first time around. Should the CEC work in the way I am hoping? Does anyone else use this with a Samsung TV? Thanks for all of the responses on this, this is why I have always loved the MB and Emby community. docmagic 2
OK I reinstalled ET and accepted the CEC install and I still get the same issue, I know there is some form of communication there because when I start ET my TV switches source and I have to change it back. Any thoughts?
Luke 37096
Do you have other applications installed that utilize CEC? You can only have one running at a time so that could be causing a problem.
cash84 4
I hate how much of a pita pulse 8 device is to set up. I almost returned it but got it to work by disconnecting the hdmi plug a few times. Even spin the plug around. I eventually got it to work. It’s not ET, it’s the device. At least this what happened to me. Edited February 6, 2018 by cash84

Françoise 0
Hi, Regarding CEC implementation on the Chromecast. If something is playing, using the stop button on a remote, will exit the Emby app on the Chromecast, as it should be. However, if nothing is playing, using the stop button on the remote does not do anything. Expected behavior would be to exit the app. Also pressing skip, next, previous with hdmi-cec does not work with the Chromecast.
Luke 37096
We'll take a look at that. Thanks.
