rpope1969 0
I have the emby app installed on my android phone as well as 2 other devices. I also have a chromecast attached to my TV and use the google home mini. The app connects to my emby server upstairs to access my media data base. Everything works perfectly. Except for when I am done watching TV for the night. I disconnect the emby app from my chrome cast. Then I exit the app on my phone. After that I tell the google mini to turn off my living room TV. The TV shuts off and all appears to be good... For a few minutes. Then my TV turns back on and the emby splash screen is there saying that emby is ready to cast. In trying to figure out which of the 3 devices is now connected to the chromecast I have shut each of them off and the splash screen is still on the TV. The only way I seem to be able to stop this is unplugging the chromecast. Any thoughts, ideas or direction that I might go to find a solution would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if I have not provided enough information.
Luke 37118
hi, are you sure the emby app is shutdown on all three devices?
rpope1969 0
Thank you for responding.... As to your question I hope this answers it. The other night when this happened I shut off all 3 devices ( 2 cell phones and an android tablet) to see which one was causing the splash screen. I powered them off one at a time until all 3 were completely turned off. But the splash screen stayed up on my TV. The only other device, in my house, that is running emby is my media server ( Linux mint) and it is never used to cast content by itself. Thank you again
Luke 37118
The splash screen will stay up on your TV. To close that what you need to do is use the button inside the app to disconnect from Chromecast, and then when it asks if you want to close Emby on Chromecast, select yes.
rpope1969 0
I will give that a try and give you an update...Thank you for the help and advice. I wasn't sure if this was a feature of emby that I failed to recognize the benefits of or something with the chromecast. :-) But regardless it wasn't a huge deal just a tad annoying getting up at 6 am ( to get ready for work) and finding my TV has been on all night. rpope1969 0
I apologize for it taking this long to update. Sadly things haven't changed. My process is below: When done watching TV for the night: 1: I use emby back button to go back to the emby dashboard on my phone ( Samsung Galaxy S7 edge) 2: I tap cast button and choose "disconnect" and tap ok. The TV screen then shows the chromecast screen saver. 3: I tap my phone home button to get out of emby 4: I tell my google mini to turn off the TV Within the next 10 minutes or so when I look at my tv again ( not doing anything on my phone) I find the TV back on and the "emby ready to cast" screen showing. I then turn my tv back off and sometimes the tv will come back on later on. I am not sure what I could be doing wrong. Thank you
firemen 0
HI, I don't want to Hijack this topic but similar problem happen on my setup! I just want to support the rpope1969 (we are on the same boat) Server: Emby Version 3.2.60.0 running on Xpenology Nas Tv: Vizio P65 with integrated chromecast device Control is made from Emby Apps on a Galaxy S8+ Everything running perfect else I decided to listening another Hdmi input on the tv. Few minute after the Hdmi Select is done, the tv change back to the Chromecast receiver showing "emby ready to cast". The only way I can stop emby to stop this hapennig is to reboot emby server. All Other chromecast apps I use don't have this problem (spotify, plutotv, or other streaming apps). ( I think emby refresh the "emby ready to cast" at like every 10 minutes, the chromecast switch on at that moment!!) Something I can try to help to resolve the problem ? note: if you feel I must start another topic, let me know: I will deleted that one and start a new one! Regards! rpope1969 0
To the above post.... Same thing that happened to Firemen Yesterday my girlfriend was watching a show on emby/chromecast. We were getting ready to go to dinner with some friends so she followed the same process, on her phone, as I have listed above to get out of Emby. But instead of turning the TV off she changed the input, after exiting emby, to live TV so our dog has some noise. We then left for dinner. When we got back home from dinner the TV had changed input back to Chromecast... Of course since we got out of range( her phone and my network) at some point after emby/chromecast switched input, all we saw was the chromecast screen saver when we walked into the house. In posting this additional data I just wanted to make sure I supply as much information as possible so that maybe someone who is far smarter than I am can figure out what I may be missing. Thank you for any and all help.

crono141 0
This issue is still occurring. I just switched to Emby from Plex, and I'm setting up all my home devices. I use chromecast in the living room for streaming, and the exact same behavior as above is happening. This is on a fresh install of Emby, and only one chromecast, and only one android device has been used to try to cast. This is a big deal. I don't need my TV coming on in the middle of the night. Is there any update?
rpope1969 0
I have yet to see a fix...... what I do every time I am done watching Emby is going into settings on my phone ( Has been upgraded to a galaxy s9 plus and still happens) and force close on emby. The tv doesn't come back on after that

Bazzu85 21
happened to me 10 minutes ago.. is there a workaround? maybe disconnecting the chromecast without choosing yes in "close emby app on chromecast" popup cause the automatic riconnection after a while? Bazzu85 21
to resolve the problem (caused by android app) I made a clear all recents app so the emby app is closed and the chromecast cast is not triggered automatically..
Luke 37118
Yes that could be it.

Luke 37118
Try disconnecting from the app and selecting yes.
Bazzu85 21
You mean disconnecting from chromecast and choose to yes on the popup? Already done, unique working method is to force close the emby app removing from recent app or from android options..
Bazzu85 21
Yesterday I've seen some episode using android app and chromecast..closed the connection choosing yes on the popup and no problem after.. So I don't know how to reproduce the problem.. Maybe today I try to stream something and xlose connection without the popup..

widget100 7
Cast something from the android app on my phone, program ends. hit disconnect from chromecast in android app. Then at random times over the next few hours the android app will connect to the chromecast on its own which switches from the TV to HDMI (really irrritating) and displays the ready to cast message. I've attached the log, the log finishes just after it did it, so you have a point in time to go on. emby1.Log Edited October 26, 2018 by widget100
widget100 7
Just reported this on a new thread and seen this one afterwards. Exactly the same issue Tell Emby App to stop chromecasting but it wakes up later and does it just to spite me
