genelue 0
My movies play properly in the Chrome web client, but won't run in the IE web client. The inoperation is accompanied with "Video Error" and "Invalid Source" messages. I recall reading a few months ago that the development team (Abobader) was actively working on the problem. I haven't seen any recent update on the issue ... what is the current status? Many thanks, Gene
Luke 37112
A community member solved it a month or two ago. It's partly IE and partly system settings. Does anyone recall and have a link to that? It might have been @@Starkadius?

rickster53 27
I'm running on Windows 7 with IE11 and after trying everything suggested in the link posted by gcoupe, I am still getting Invalid Source error on the web client when I try to play any movie. If anyone has additional suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks!
jhoff80 87
Same issue here in IE11, having checked everything in the other thread. (WebM, Audio drivers, Video drivers, alternative codecs enabled). Despite the WebM codecs being present, it never even attempts using them. It's with MB version 3.0.5211.41935. 2014-04-22 12:55:13.3227 Info - ServerManager: Sending web socket message UserUpdated2014-04-22 12:55:13.6040 Warn - StringMapTypeDeserializer: Property 'u' does not exist on type 'MediaBrowser.WebDashboard.Api.GetDashboardResource'2014-04-22 12:55:13.6040 Info - HttpServer: Web socket connection closed by client. EZEd 53
Might this also be the fix/problem with doing LiveTV using IE 11 too? You get a similar message when you try to do LiveTV in IE11 as well.
Tikuf 663
If we can find a solution for one it will also fix the other. But so far we are not having much luck.

Glad to hear this is on the radar as its still a nagging issue for me. Thanks Tikuf! EDIT: I would be more than happy to help test out any potential fixes if needed! jhoff80 87
Sorry, yeah I get that. I was just sort of wondering out loud if the two different issues I'm having on IE and WP might possibly be related.
Luke 37112
i think they because they're probably both based on the same old microsoft decoders. IE on Xbox one for instance is built from the ground up and doesn't have that problem
jhoff80 87
I've noticed too that the Windows Phone app (both the new update today, and the previous version) have the same issue of not being able to play some files back. I assume they're related, because both use MP4 for transcoding, but I don't know for sure. I do know that haven't noticed any issues with the WinRT or Roku versions, or with Chrome or Firefox though. IE and WP are the only two where I have issues.

You notice little things such as the fact that videos will auto play when launching something via the web client on the X1 versus on a pc.
