darkassassin07 429
Im starting to notice loading times for the android app seem to be increasing. About a month ago the app would connect and serve up my home page in approx 5-10sec. Now Im seeing 15-25sec loading times (from app open to home page) when using the android app, however connecting via a browser on the same device loads in less than 5sec. This is on the local network. Oddly it loads in roughly 5sec from WAN (app), Im only seeing a slow down with the app on LAN. Anyone else noticed this? Im my case this is making for verry long loading times as my server sleeps when not in use and doesn't connect to the device that woke it until it attempts to connect again. So the first attempt wakes the server but doesn't connect, you wait aprox 30sec for it to time out and display the server list, click connect and have to wait another 20sec for that connection. @@Luke / dev team Has the app perhaps changed to attempt wan befor lan? Would it be possible for the app to attempt both connections at the same time and continue with which ever responds first? Aborting and connecting through LAN if it gets a LAN response after the WAN response? This would connect and serve up the homepage as fast as possible, while figuring out which network path to use in the background. Luke 37118
It always attempts lan first so if that's available, it should get right in. I think it is related to the server being asleep.
darkassassin07 429
This is all while the server is already awake. If the server is asleep, you also have to wait for the server to wake and the connection to timeout to retry, but regardless of server state the app takes 3x longer to load than the web page (15sec over 5sec) while on lan, but loads in 5sec just fine from wan: App lan: 15-20sec App wan: 5sec Browser lan: 5sec Browser wan: 5sec Edited September 17, 2017 by darkassassin07

ebr 14935
Is it possible the app is not able to access the server locally and, therefore, times that out and then ends up connecting externally?
darkassassin07 429
I don't think so because my router doesn't support loopback, so if i try my external address locally it just times out.
ebr 14935
So that point to perhaps the opposite happening - it is trying to connect outside, times out and then connects inside. Did you at any point manually enter the address to connect to with this app?
darkassassin07 429
Im not sure, I think this one found the server automatically while local. I just went to test it by signing out then going to select server to remove + re-add my server but I got this screen when I pressed 'change server' from the login screen on the app:
darkassassin07 429
Screw it. I had migrated the majority of my users to the browser-based web app, but I'm going to abandon the android app all together. It has been far more of a hassle than its worth, and limits functionality to things like plugins anyway. Kind of a shame, the apps were literally the only feature i was interested in with premier, and now it just feels like a waste. Maybe once offline download sorting gets fixed, or implemented in any way for that matter, ill look into them again, but for now at least I see absolutely no reason to use the apps over the browser. Guest asrequested
FWIW, when on LAN, my app loads in 3-4 seconds. I have discovered that changing from a wireless router to using an AP, my connectivity to my phone is notably quicker. I have this AP
darkassassin07 429
Its not the network, this is all on the same device on the same lan via wifi or cellular data for the wan connections. App lan: 15-20sec App wan: 5sec Browser lan: 5sec Browser wan: 5sec
darkassassin07 429
Offline downloading should be fine now. Music is in a single folder unsorted with no option to look at an artist / album. The only part of offline downloading i want to use: easy music access on my limited storage phone, with the ability to change whats available locally on my phone on the fly. (this is currently set to sort by name in accenting order...) Edited September 24, 2017 by darkassassin07
