Genre view

Hi,

 

I have noticed that the Genre view in the web app is different to ET on XBone. Is it possible to change it, so it is the same as ET? I prefer the view of Genre thumbs, as opposed to the current design.

The web app style is actually our preferred layout. The only reason ET is not using it at this point is because it does not perform quite as well on some of the TV devices that ET runs on.

 

But actually if you run ET in mobile or desktop layout mode, you get the same layout as the web app.

Another dumb suggestion of mine, but seeing as most of the Emby Genre interfaces seem to have two rows of stuff i.e. ET has two rows of Genre icons and the web has two rows of movies (or whatever icons), how about using the first row for a horizontal (if its allowed) scrolling list of Genre icons and the second row for a horizontal scrolling row of the relevant movies (or whatever). So you scroll along and pick Animation and the animations show up underneath, go for Thriller and that's what shows up instead. People get to use the icons and you still get to see the first 6 (or 8) items in the genre, and more if you scroll right.

At that point we would just do some kind of text-based filter, almost a drop down.
