Not sure if this is the right spot where to request this. .. Nevertheless can we please add the feature for embyserver. Pretty much ro setup a pause timeout limit . so if a user put a video/movie on pause for more than xyz timeout limit would kick them back to the video/movie home page...

Thanks

Hi @@K20ItachiUCHIHA, welcome. Just curious what the use case behind this is. Is there a problem with pausing for a while? Thanks !

I have a few user who happen to leave movies on pause for hours or over night and i am trying to minimize use of resources for no reason.

People tend to leave the pause on instead of stopping the video.   And then the log gets full of this:

Which makes them huge and harder to scroll through.

It also prevents the screen saver from turning on.    I used to think that people just had a hard time stopping a video, until one user left a video on pause with the Tv turned on for over 4 days.  That is not typical though.

I think what is happening is that the users are starting a Tv series and playing a few episodes and then pausing to continue watching the next day or something.

Oh?

Yes, they are using DLNA.  Kodi on a Raspberry Pi to be specific.

So if thats the case then creating a pause time out be a bit more involved.  Wouldn't it?

There would be nothing we could do client-side. we could possibly just pull the stream server-side but that would probably result in an error message on screen and there would be nothing we could do about that.

Yeah......fortunately I found a kodi addon that allows a custom command to be ran if playback exceeds a certain time limit.

If other users are interested in this sort of thing it can be found in Kodi Addons > Services.

Would like to see something implemented along the lines of..."Disconnect any stream that is paused/idle for more than ____ minutes."
