teiva 18
Chrome OS: 56.0.2924.101 Server: 3.2.7 Prior to this issue... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/45281-324-video-distorted-on-chrome-os-errors-in-log/?p=425084 One specific movie of the five I tried was affected by this on 3.2.4. Currently on 3.2.7 every movie I stream defaults to transcoding when set to "auto" which takes a serious performance (video playback choppiness) and video quality hit. Luke 37253
Hi, no, this is not true. The app is requesting a very low bitrate from the server, under 1mbps. That is the reason for the poor quality. Try customizing your own value for the max streaming bitrate in app settings.
teiva 18
Thanks @@Luke. For future reference, where in the log specifies the bitrate request from the client? My max streaming bitrate is set to auto on the client, so that should automatically bump it higher than the bitrate on the file right? The server resolved the issue itself. I think it was in a weird state when originally reported because I just literally upgraded the server minutes before.
Luke 37253
The automatic bitrate detection will not be perfect for everyone. if you're in that bucket then you'll want to set your own bitrate. You can see the bitrate selected just by clicking on the in-video settings icon.
Luke 37253
On the local network, automatic bitrate now maxes out to a really high value. I would suggest using that as your setting. Enjoy.
