It appears that the file tags are written with an incorrect encoding. They are expected to be encoded in UTF-8 but they are encoded using Cyrillic Windows-1251 codepage.   Which appears to be not conforming to the spec.   wav is a Windows file type and Windows itself cannot display it correctly:   Properties:     Windows Music:     Windows Media Player:     Also, it's not an issue of Windows/Linux. Here's the ffprobe output on Ubuntu:       VLC seems to be more toleran
