Movies no longer collapsed into collections

I just updated my Emby Server to 3.1.5.0 and after the update my movies are no longer grouped into collections. I went into Emby config options then view, and made sure I have "collapse movies into collections" checked. Is there another option that needs to be enabled to group them together?

What server version did you upgrade from?

Are your Collections created with file system folders as opposed to with the web interface or auto box sets?

I don't know the previousversion number, but whatever was the current stable release as of 12/18/16 is what I used to have installed before the current 3.1.5.0

My collections are created with file system folders with a collection.xml file in the root folder for each collection that is generated by Media Center Master.

Okay.  That method of creating collections only has limited support now.  We moved to a different system about a year and a half ago and some of the backwards compatibility is starting to be phased out.

My intent is to have the collection info saved to my movies folders on the remote server. What's the best way to convert from my file system folders to the currently accepted format and save it to the server?

I'm not sure what you mean by "save it to the server" but you would simply flatten out your physical structure to no longer include the collection folders and then either create the collections with the web interface or use the auto box sets plug-in to do it for you best on data from tmdb and then customize from there.

That will get you full functionality as well as the ability for the same item to exist in more than one collection.

When I say "save it to the server" I mean that all of my movies and their metadata are stored on a remote server in my basement, separate machine than what I use to play them. I like to save the metadata in each movie folder so if I ever need to re-load Emby or start over for some reason it doesn't have to download all of the metadata again. Same goes for collections, if I have to go back and configure each movie collection again in the web interface is there a way to save that collection info somewhere?

edit: I tried out the auto box sets plugin and it seemed to work great, picked up over 70 movie collections, however, I still do not see movies grouped into collections in the main Movies view and I still have the "collapse movies into collections" option checked. Is it still possible to browser all of my movies, and have movie collections grouped within that after using auto box sets?

I also have a custom filter that I apply to folder images and it seems that I won't be able to use that anymore with the auto box sets?

Check the Library->Display portion of the server Dashboard and be sure that the option to group the movies into collections is set there.

Can you explain exactly what you mean here?  If you are talking about CoverArt, yes, it works just fine with these collections.

I do have the group movies into collections options enabled in the server Library->Display section.

I use the StarkCovers exe file to manually apply folder images and save them locally to the folders.
