TravellingGuy 0
Sorry for the n00b question. I've been using Emby for a number of months now. I originally installed the IPTV plugin, assuming I needed it to hook up to my IPTV provider for Live TV (M3U playlist with XMLTV for guide information). Once setup and configured, my Live TV works great with it! However, I was just perusing the wiki documentation (imagine that!) and the wiki page for Live TV (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Live%20TV) indicates that M3U playlist is supported out of the box. This leads me to believe I don't need the IPTV plugin (but I don't want to remove it, for fear that I'll lose my configuration and have to map all my channels again). So, what does the IPTV plugin actually do/provide?
Luke 37113
Hi @@TravellingGuy, welcome. The IPTV plugin actually predates our live tv feature and for the most part is not needed anymore. the IPTV plugin presents the content in a folder structure whereas setting up the m3u with live tv will integrate it with the live tv feature. They are completely independent so switching from one to the other will require starting from the beginning. Does this help answer your question? thanks.
