But I have purchased a cablecard box from my provider, used via hdhomerun to serverWMC to emby. Anybody have any tips on this? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This is the case for my premium services like HBO, and Starz. Which channels are copy-protected or not really depends on the provider and the market. No, WMC was the only one with the license. It is the playback engine that needs to be able to decode it. With the move towards streaming apps for all of these platforms, I don't know that we'll ever see another platform with generic DRM built in.
