bozrdnag 73
When I first set up Emby I didn't really think a couple things through. I created a library names Movies that contained the following folders: /Blu-Ray, /HD Rips, /DVD. I also created a library named Outside Movies that contained the folder /Outside Movies. Outside Movies contains movies for friends and family that I don't want in my library. Not thinking I set it up so that I had access to just Movies and everybody had access to both Movies and Outside Movies. This works but causesd everybody else to see both on their Emby home page. They're not very tech savvy and this confuses them. I now realize I should have set up the Outside Movies library to contain all the paths of Movies too and just gave them access the Outside Movies Library alone. My question is if I do that now will they lose any of their watched status and stuff. I really don't want any of that to change. Ultimately the paths won't change at all but the some folders will be moving to the other library.
Solution Happy2Play 8296 Posted September 29, 2016 Solution Share Posted September 29, 2016 Watched status is saved by TMDB, TVDB, and possibly IMDB ids in its own database. Location does not matter, if stuff is moved around you may see watched status reset until a library scan has completed, then everything should be back to normal.
bozrdnag 73
I'm confused. How is each users watched status saved by TMDB, TVDB or IMDB? I though was all saved in Emby's db?
Happy2Play 8296
There is a userdatav2.db that maintains user watched status alone with other stuff. The library.db contains the library.
bozrdnag 73
How does TMDB and all them contribute to the saving of watched status?
Happy2Play 8296
The movie or episode has an id at the provider so the id is used for watched status instead of filesystem location. So if you watch Veep.S05E01 the id (5435938) is recorded to the datadase.
