PrincessClevage 173
On remote connected client (same lan but using wifi) I get a black screen when live tv tries to use direct play. I can see that Serverwmc has the stream open and emby dashboard show the client actively watching the channel but the remote clients just get a black screen and freeze up. I then have to kill ET on the clients then goto the emby server and manually kill the Serverwmc channel or it will continue to store the stream until no disk space is left. I have observed that movie using direct play work fine on the same remote clients. Does live TV direct play on ET work ok for anyone else? PrincessClevage 173
Hi, sorry to hear this. How do you know that it's direct playing? This I viewed from emby dashboard which shows the client connection and "direct play". I also observed when tv channels were "transcode" they played fine on the remote ET clients Edited September 20, 2016 by PrincessClevage
ebr 14960
Direct play to your Live TV tuner from a remote location would never work - unless you had all the proper network configuration to make the tuner available externally. So, I guess the app has to somehow not allow that when on a remote connection.
Bert 49
I intermittently get this same issue.... Not a coder but my guess is Emby is trying to direct play to the Xbone which is not capable of direct play.

Does emby remux the stream and then make that remux available to remote clients that use direct play?

Luke 37273
Instructions are here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ I would be surprised if the UWP app is direct playing your live tv.
Guest asrequested
Is this only happening in desktop ET? If so, it could be the old problem, resurfacing. I've had a blank screen again, a few times. I'll have to check if the value in the directshow has been changed. It was working at 1400.

Luke 37273
Unrelated but you've also added your temporary recordings folder as an emby library and you have the realtime monitor enabled, so the server is going a little crazy responding to file changes over and over 2016-09-22 09:43:07.0904 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://192.168.1.3:8096/emby/Users/405662f1b7b24f719aeef83a5afa7af8/Items?Recursive=true&Limit=3&Filters=IsNotFolder&SortBy=DateCreated&SortOrder=Descending&Ids=fc966a60b7ec4b069c34192825ef2be5,5983a3c15232f355204b278f7a684865. All I can find is "ember for emby" in the windows store and when I play the same show in ember for emby it transcodes and plays correctly, the same show in ET plays direct and displays a black screen both on the win 10 surface. Guest asrequested
Ah, I hadn't realized he'd renamed it. In the store, it just says Emby. Ok, so we know your media foundation is fine. I'm gonna have to knock this back in Luke's court. Other than re-installing it, I'm drawing a blank.
