FlapjackJoe 1
Hi there, I am having a slight (and low-priority) problem with images for television episodes. I have some episodes that don't seem to have images on any of the "image fetchers" sites listed on Metadata --> Services. I'm pretty sure in the past, if it found no images, it just used a thumb of the backdrop for these episodes, but (after a recent Emby server update), they are displayed as various coloured rectangles. When I try to play any of these episodes on my Roku player, it uses the same image as that of a "missing episode", and it doesn't actually show a tick box to indicate if an episode has been watched yet or not. Attached is a screenshot for Casual Season 2; the first 6 episodes have images, the remaining 7 don't. On Emby Server, it shows which ones have been watched and which ones haven't, but via my Roku player, there is no tick box against any of the episodes with missing images. Any idea how to change the default episode image, or to at least know which episodes have been watched and which ones haven't if there are no images available? Thanks, FJJ. Luke 37099
Hi, try refreshing one of those from the detail screen and see if you get an image after that. Normally when there is no tvdb image it will generate a thumbnail from the video, but occasionally this will fail with certain video files. Hi there, I tried that, but that didn't generate an image either. All the files are .mp4 videos.
Happy2Play 8296
You will need to post a server log to possible see why it is failing then.
FlapjackJoe 1
You will need to post a server log to possible see why it is failing then. Hi there, Here you go, hope that helps! I tried refreshing one of the episodes at around 8:20. Thanks, FJJ. server-63608025600.txt
invertedknife 13
i too am having this problem. it seems that the solid background is being used for everything that doesn't have it's own image.
Happy2Play 8296
I don't see any jpgs either being downloaded or created in that log. Can you post a log refreshing an Episode. I tested on a dev build (3.1.6085.24702) and verified screen grabber is working. http://localhost:9096/emby/Items/1a9dcd2df1383092af2a078028c01c5d/Refresh?Recursive=true&ImageRefreshMode=FullRefresh&MetadataRefreshMode=FullRefresh&ReplaceAllImages=false&ReplaceAllMetadata=false. invertedknife 13
I don't see any jpgs either being downloaded or created in that log. Can you post a log refreshing an Episode. I tested on a dev build (3.1.6085.24702) and verified screen grabber is working. i don't think the problem is with downloading an image, if an image is available it is being displayed correctly. this problem only occurs if no image is available. based on tvdb, an episode thumb is not available for the episodes that FlapjackJoe has in his screenshot. now previously, either the image would be generated from the video file or the generic tv series thumb be used. but now in all cases where an image is not available from a metadata provider, the solid background appears. Happy2Play 8296
I will test some more but you can see in the log I posted Emby created a image for that episode (Screen Grab).
FlapjackJoe 1
Hi there, Sorry for the delay in replying, but invertedknife's comments were spot on. Attached is another log that I just ran trying to refresh an episode. A slight difference between my log and the one posted by Happy2Play; in mine, it runs ffprobe.exe, but it doesn't then run ffmpeg.exe. (I don't know enough to know if that's at all relevent, just thought I'd point it out). Thanks, FJJ. server-63608266501.txt
Luke 37099
Are those missing episodes?
FlapjackJoe 1
Are those missing episodes? No. The episodes are there and I can watch them without a problem. However, it just can't find the episodes image online and gets a solid background image. I use the Roku player to watch the episodes. The image there is the same as that of a missing episode, and it doesn't indicate watched episode, but I can still watch the actual episodes. Luke 37099
Ok yea, it should be fixed to use the series thumb like it did before. thanks.
Happy2Play 8296
Ok yea, it should be fixed to use the series thumb like it did before. thanks. I can understand this for missing episodes but if you have the media why wouldn't Screen grabber work? All my tests so far on dev build show it to work. Using test media and images don't exist online, except S05E01. E02-E07 are extracted images
Luke 37099
Maybe they disabled it, maybe it failed for their video files.
