Guest asrequested
Who would like to have audio codec selection like we had in the legacy theater, returned? Remember this? Would you like to have it again, in ET?
AdrianW 1053
I can't remember what that actually did. What was the effect of checking or unchecking any particular audio codec?
Guest asrequested
I can't remember what that actually did. What was the effect of checking or unchecking any particular audio codec? @@AdrianW It selected which codecs were handled by Theater. Deselecting them would allow you to use external filters and codecs. I would use ffdshow to handle AAC. And ffdshow has the ability to convert AAC to AC3 on the fly. Also using the codec tweak tool Edited August 15, 2016 by Doofus
AdrianW 1053
OK - so, yes I would like this back - at least for AAC.

Koleckai Silvestri 1150
Come on guys, I know there're more people who want this Don't really care as long as the audio plays correct. Only have stereo speakers where Theater is involved anyway.
Guest asrequested
If you only have stereo, this option for you is redundant. But there are a lot of people with HTPCs and have home theater.
Sammy 738
Doesn't ET use LAV filters internally and this is already taken care of without user input? Can't you already load external filters if desired?
Sammy 738
I just read your other hijacked thread and now see what you're getting at. I'm not looking at my library right now but I'm pretty sure that I have little to none AAC or AC3 in there but do have a lot (above 90%) of dts, dts-MA, DD, DD TrueHD and the like. I don't have any DD Atmos though. I have my Denon 2312ci set to Front Height with three speakers at ear level and two high then two high surrounds, adjusted with audyssey MultEQ. It sounds great and stereo PCM is automatically expanded to 7.1 channels. Why do you have so much AAC anyhow?
Guest asrequested
So you're fine, then. I've just got a lot of old stuff. Some of it I can only get through 'acquisition'. Stuff that has stereo and has never been remastered. Example, there's and old show, called Monkey. It's Chinese with English dubbing. To listen to it correctly, I either have to change my receiver settings or I convert it. This is one example of many. Too many to convert.
Sammy 738
I stand corrected on my previous comment above.. I guess I didn't realize that LAV didn't decode but passed AAC through to the AVR because my AVR just expands stereo PCM to Pro Logic IIz (where the z is "Front Height"). I didn't realize that the newer Atmos AVR's didn't do the same or similar thing with stereo PCM to DD-Atmos.
Guest asrequested
I can set my receiver to process everything in the same way ie DD or dts, which will make everything the same. But I didn't spend a bunch of money on a receiver that has the capability of decoding all the different types to ignore most of them to only use one of them. Atmos and dts-x have different ways of handling sound, and I also spent a lot of money on Atmos speakers. My receiver cannot process non AC3 stereo into Atmos. So I'm left with only two options, unless Luke decides to add Babgvant's new option. Edited August 19, 2016 by Doofus
Guest asrequested
Doesn't ET use LAV filters internally and this is already taken care of without user input? Can't you already load external filters if desired? I missed this, earlier. Yes it uses LAV and no you can't use external filters. Luke deliberately designed it that way. Guest asrequested
I see that Luke has accepted babgvant's updates. Thank you, Luke and Babgvant. I can't wait to test it
