smidley 20
In my devices list, I have the same devices listed over and over. Things like: Kodi - Livingroom last used by smidley Kodi bedroom last used by smidley Kodi - Livingroom last used by smidley Kodi bedroom last used by smidley I looks like that over and over. Also, there is an entry for almost every version of chrome since it detects when I sign in to manage the server and creates a new device every time there is a chrome update. Is there any plans to clean this up? It would be nice if the device only got entered one time per name of the device, and browsers would just detect that it's a browser logging in and say "Chrome" instead of one for each version number. Just wondering if this is something being looked at or not.
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
I've had this happen continually since that list was added. I just go through occasionally and delete every device from the list. Annoying but neither case seems to affect the usability of the server. Luke 37118
The browsers don't show up in the device list. The above situation in the first post is beyond the control of Emby Server. If the device ID being reported by the app changes then that's what happens. The easiest thing to do is just remove it with the trash can, or ignore it. If you find this happening all the time, then report the issue in the Emby for Kodi section of the forum.
jordy 284
So, are you saying that there will be a new instance of a device whenever that device has an update? - I recently cleared about 50 instances covering 1*chromecast, 2*ET, 2*Androids and 1*iPad. Can we get a "Delete All" please.
Luke 37118
I didn't say that, is that what I said? In most cases, the apps are using the device UUID which is never going to change.
jordy 284
Ok. I misunderstood. I don't know how a uuid is generated, so if I don't change my devices - and I haven't - tell us how Emby sees the devices differently enough that it thinks it's a new device please. Luke 37118
android uses the androidID, and some device manufacturers change the value under certain conditions. there is nothing we can do about that. we used to capture the phoneID but that requires an extra permission that users complained about. so you just have to kindly remove them from the device list or just pleasantly ignore them. web browsers are not capable of unique identification which is why they don't show up in the list. jordy 284
Thank-you. An issue that arises from multiple device listings for the same piece of equipment is that sync gave me a list with repeated items for the same device all with the same name. I didn't know which one to choose. I'll have a look and see if I can reproduce it. Also it takes a while and a lot of interactions to delete 50 odd duplicate devices. So it would be nice to have some form of bulk delete available - if that's at all possible. Angelblue05 4130
Unless you uninstall and reinstall emby for kodi, the device Id will remain the same. You can also force it to generate a new device Id via the emby add-on settings > advanced tab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jordy 284
Luke, using Emby for Android to sync an Ep to another device gives me a choice of 4 destinations - two with the same name. Emby server shows 8 devices listed - one device/app combination is shown twice. see screenshot - this is confusing... EDIT: The same sync to list appears in Emby Server also. dcook 265
Same issue happens with Xbox, I think a Delete All option is a good idea if you can't fix it?

jordy 284
It's not the Android device that is duplicating. It's Emby RT on my Surface Pro 3. Silly thing is, since ET was released, I haven't used it and it hasn't been updated in months. I cleared the device list about a month ago and the duplication has occurred since then. I have uninstalled it now... Only problem now is, can't sync to ET yet. When is that coming? Luke 37118
You haven't been using it but the sync process was still running, so that explains it.
