mrees 6
Hi all, Im experiencing some issues with Emby for WMC Quite often I am losing content in the emby interface When I try and go into any of the libraries, it will show that there are no Items If I exit out of the application a few times, sometimes the content re-appears Other times I just need to let the system sit there for a while before something eventually shows up My server and main WMC are both wired to gigabit switches and this is a new WMC build (dedicated) with the 64 bit version of Windows 7 running and minimal software loaded My server OS is WHS 2011 The only real difference that I can think of is that I had to hard code the IP of the server into the WMC config as it wouldn't pick up the server automatically on installation Any help would be greatly appreciated (log attached) Emby.txt
mrees 6
Hi All Heres a 2nd log file This was taken just now after a fresh reboot of the server Emby for WMC again shows no content Trying to connect using a IOS client simply sits at the spinning circle with no content displayed Any help on this would be great, because when it hits, the system is totally unusable --------- After the log file was taken-------------- I shut the IOS client down a few times and re-opened it Once it connected, I forced the WMC to play a episode from the phone client (remote controlled) Once I did this, the content started populating on the WMC emby.txt Edited June 20, 2016 by mrees
Ian-Highlander 145
Is the server doing a media scan when this happens? Only ask because I get this problem when a media scan is running. If you'd just started the server then an initial startup scan probably was running.

Luke 37118
You could try downloading the beta server from the website and see if that performs better. Please note, it will run a database upgrade task so allow that to finish.

mrees 6
Your server is simply responding too slowly. Any way to determine why? Its gigabit hard wired Resources are sitting close to idle (plenty of CPU and RAM left) and file access and other applications are quick and snappy, its simply just Emby thats causing me grief

Mine is .33 (beta build). The Ios app and website correctly displayed all items.

Boredcat 34
I didn't check it in that version. I just upgraded to 0.35 (same issue). I also found that Emby is starting slower then before (1 1/2 week back). Also I having gigabit between server and HTPC so that should not be the issue. I will now update WMC to the latest beta (see if that helps). Next step if this doesn't work, I will rollback to from a beta version to the stable version. @@mrees : What kind of hardware do you use as server. Boredcat 34
I am using the pearl skin. Switched to classic (still no luck). But when I switch the view for movie to genres, movies where displayed again. Switch back to the normal view made the movies disappear again. So I think that the issue is somehow related to the view setting in WMC.. Also I check the load on my server (I don't have a system powerfull as yours ;-) and the CPU is almost idle .. Also I check the disk queue length on the disk (especially in on the disk where the Emby server is located) this was no more then 0.1. So the disk and CPU should not be the bottleneck. @@mrees : did you tried anything yet ?
Boredcat 34
I was reading an other thread there mention of turning off legacy browsing to increase speed. Gave that a try and everything is working again. In between I also installed Emby Theater, this worked also very good, so I will move from WMC to ET (and upgrade to Win10).

DAVe3283 7
I'm having this same problem now after the server updated automatically. My "Movies" collection is empty. "TV" collection works, but very slow to load initially. I updated to the latest beta server (3.1.6033.23766), no change. Log: server-63603620265.txt, error @ line 331. I updated to the latest beta Emby for WMC client (3.0.307), no change. Log: MBClassic-972016085da4b5ca834132bfa91eef15009d96.log, error @ line 59. Emby Theater and the web UI both work perfect, playback works fine. Just Emby for WMC is missing content. Server is a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM (host and guest); 3 GB RAM (currently using 1.2GB), 4 CPU cores. CPU use sits at 3-5% when I open Emby for WMC, 0% otherwise. Disk queue is < 0.01 (1% Highest Active Time) according to Resource Monitor. If you need more specs on the system I can provide them, but suffice to say it is not CPU or I/O bound. ebr 14935
That's a dev server not a beta but try the latest stable release. The requests are timing out as you saw in the EMC log.
DAVe3283 7
You're right, I think I was on the beta channel and switched to the dev channel to see if that fixed it. I downgraded to the latest stable (3.0.5985.0) and that seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks! Hopefully those logs are still useful to the devs to fix the regression going forward, though. mpm131 1
For what it is worth. I was running Emby with out an issue on beta server version. It worked great up until the last few beta versions, and then I ran into the same issue as the rest in this post where my movies would not show up due to timeouts. Nothing changed with my setup except for the beta version. The latest beta I had was .61. I wound up removing it and installing the latest stable version and my system is running much, much better and all my movies are showing up and it seems to be running much faster. I think there is a glitch with the beta version. My opinion of course.
Mustang Dave 5
i am having EXACTLY the issue Dave3283 posted and I am only running the newest standard version 3 0 5985 "I'm having this same problem now after the server updated automatically. My "Movies" collection is empty. mpm131 1
Further to my post yesterday. Here are my log files for both the server and WMC. I have attached the beta server logs and the stable version logs as data points. Notes on both. Beta Server Logs: - Created using beta server prior to .61 although .61 provided similar results if not worse. Symptoms: Movies would not show up (close to 700 titles). TV shows showed up but sluggish. Again this only happened recently with introduction of the last couple beta server installs. Stable Server Logs - All issues that I had with the last couple of beta versions disappeared when I installed the lastest stable version from the website. Movies showed up almost instantaneously and not more sluggishness with the TV shows. Hope it helps.
