niczoom 0
Ive been using EMBY for a long time now. My current setup in Win 10 x64 running WMC + EMBY server with the 'EMBY for WMC' addon installed. Using the EMBY for WMC configurator ive setup MPC-HC as my external player (same setup ive used for years). I use 'EMBY for WMC' plugin to browse my movies and tv shows. Now, with my new Win 10 setup, the (vast) majority of the time when I stop a video playing (using MPC-HC) and it returns to 'EMBY for WMC', the program locks up (ehshell.exe), windows is still running fine in the background but nothing (apart from killing the ehshell.exe process, or restarting windows) will bring me back to the desktop, it just displays the screen from where i launched my video from. Any ideas on this?

niczoom 0
Correct. Been running it for a few months now, no issues for me at the moment. Apart from what I mentioned above. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page336?p=1200602&viewfull=1#post1200602 Have you heard of this happening before (on any windows version)? epayson85 72
This is is why I have not done it... heck I am still on win7 haha. Just too many variables and with no one working on it, you are kind of on your own. You have to hope others from the win10 community are also using emby with external players and run into the same issue. If its not emby being broken its going to be an issue with one of your tuners or god knows what else. Have you tried not using MPC-HC? There is literally nothing that WMC can't play if you install the correct codecs.

I have not, I love the flexibilty of MPC-HC for subtitles, audio sync etc... but in this situation I may have to try other alternatives.
AdrianW 1053
I converted my NUC to Win 10 (from 8.1) and installed the hacked Media Center. I experienced the same problem as you - see my post on mydigitallife from a month ago which details my problem. I never found a solution, so I've moved to using ET full-time. With ET using MadVR and a separate subtitle filter (I can't remember the name right now) - I have ET playback configured almost identically to MPC-HC via EMC. Video and subtitles both look the same the only real difference is only having two skip distances instead of three.
niczoom 0
Thanks for the reply. I read your posts on the mydigitallife forums and yes, im having exactly the same issue. Ive also tried EMBY Theater, I thought I may be able to make the transition from WMC+EMBY...... but it does not come close to the functionality of WMC for live tv, also has a way to go when compared to EMC plugin as welll. When you refer to "ET" what application is this?

niczoom 0
Thanks. Been playing with VLC for a short time, doesnt seem to have the hanging issue when returning to EMC. Have you noticed in ET that the covers are stretched vertically and are low-res, not at all like EMC, which had perfect ratio and hi-res covers. No, in fact the covers in ET are probably higher res than EMC. And they're definitely not stretched.

I never have to touch my audio sync settings, what is your setup like? Also with subtitles you can do it multiple ways in WMC. You can use your mouse to bring up vodsub options and select subtitles. There is actually a program you can install that creates button shortcuts that can then be programmed to a remote to switch subtitles. Or you can do what I do and you can set vodsub to auto enable a certain sub language / type of your choice. Mine is set to "forced" only. Thus only movies that have foreign parts with forced subs will show up. It works perfectly for me and a lot easier for non techy people. Also don't know when was the last time you used theater, but the stretched / low quality movie poster issue is gone. I do completely agree with you though that the live TV experience on WMC is still the absolute best. I also think browsing movies through WMC is also better. Theater is getting there though lots of improvements every day.
niczoom 0
Have a look at this thread regarding my vertically stretched covers, ive posted a few examples. At the moment i'll stick with EMC using VLC as an external player, ive got it working close enough to how MPCHC was previously. It does not hang like MPCHC when returning to EMC after pressing stop. I also find ET starts very slow compared to EMC, it takes approx 12 seconds to start the app and display the LiveTV/Movies/TV start screen. When it operates in a similar fashion to how EMC does then ill make the move.
