rcarteraz 12
I purchased an Amazon Fire TV Stick for my brother who lives a few minutes from me. I made sure to connect it first to my LAN so it could authenticate with the server and emby app. However, I'm still unable to connect to my server from his house. Why is that? What can I do to correct this? Thanks
Luke 37071
Hi, welcome. The first step is to explain to us exactly what you did in the interface, and on what screen you encountered a problem, and if there was an error message, exactly what it said. Then, please take a look at our Connectivity Troubleshooter, which you can use to diagnose connection-related problems. Please try the steps listed in the article and let us know where you get stuck. Thanks!

Thanks! The issue occurs when selecting a server. I've tried both manually and via Connect verifying the pin. Once I get to the server selection screen and I select my server it starts by immediately saying "This is taking longer than normal" then after about 30 seconds says "Server Unavailable". I don't have any issues with my iPhone remotely at their house and I'm able to access via the web browser there but no matter what I did the Fire TV app wouldn't connect. That was, like I said, after first connecting to the server within the same LAN at my house and then taking it over to theirs.
ebr 14913
What version of the app? You might also try clearing data on the app just to see if it is trying to use an old, invalid address or something.

I imagine it's the latest version considering I just bought the device on Sunday and installed the App on Monday.
rcarteraz 12
@@ebr I think it has to do with trying to connect to the secured port. When I enter that manually it does the same thing as trying to connect via emby connect (that does secured port too right?) Manual via public connects fine. hijinx 4
I have same issue with fire stick. I am trying to connect to my external service via SSL (e.g. https://mydomain.co.uk:12345) (not real address ofc) I also tried direct with URL and via emby connect service - neither work. 1) I can connect internally (via IP/or domain) and externally (https via domain) with other clients (iOS, chrome etc) 2) I can connect the amazon fire client internally via direct IP or with emby connect service But external https does not work... I'm using latest version of emby app from amazon store. Edited June 9, 2016 by hijinx
ebr 14913
For now, https will only work if you have a certificate that is trusted by the device (your Android TV device).
hijinx 4
For now, https will only work if you have a certificate that is trusted by the device (your Android TV device). I'm back to trying to get this sorted prior to vacation so we can use the firestick to watch emby content whilst away. To reply to your statement about certificate, I'm not using self certified SSL cert. I am using an SSL certificate for my domain that issued by https://letsencrypt.org/ Its trusted by all other browsers I use and trusted by the iOS emby app. I think there is a bug in HTTPS support in the emby app.
