skorpioneMM 2
Hi, im a little bored from Plex and Kodi and im looking to go with Emby. I discovered Emby 2 months ago and i liked a lot, simplicity but beauty with a lot of options and possibilites. But today just start to play with Emby and tried to import some of my Libraries (all my libraries are with STRM files hosted in some file hostings) and for my surprise Emby cant get to play any of these giving a error message. I dont have problems viewing these online movies in Plex and Kodi, its just only with Emby ;( For more info, the 2 file hosting where im trying to play my STRM files in Emby are Streamnation.com and 1fichier.com For 1fichier the links i use for STRM files are in that format: https://email:password@1fichier.com/?3rftoebl2x (For obvious reasons i can put a real link from this host) And for Streamnation this is the format i use, i give an example of a real link from my account: https://cdnd-2.streamnation.com/74/9a/3f/9a3f394a77176371a2a5657f259f00f93fc2d6a4.mkv?st=4hjM1Qf4Q_GxuGpbtna9xA&e=4102473600&name=Resident+Evil+%281%29.mkv Hope anyone can help, i really want to use Emby but not if i cant play any file of my libraries EDIT: I add here the 2 logs, 1 from 1fichier and the other from Streamnation: 1fichier log:https://paste2.org/wzkBb61w Streamnation log: https://paste2.org/C11hs7hJ Edited December 4, 2015 by skorpioneMM

skorpioneMM 2
Well this is the path being passed into ffmpeg. is that correct? https://user%40hotmail.com:password@1fichier.com/?g9xez167qo&auth=1 Hi, i dont think is something wrong with ffmpeg because tried to play the same file with another file host and plays fine, i leave here 2 logs more, the 2 are with the same file but like i said, 2 differents file host, one working and the other not (the one not working 1ficher is the one i want i use correctly) Uptobox log (this is working) https://paste2.org/8fEVFGze 1fichier log (this not working) https://paste2.org/mJIvny0a Edited December 4, 2015 by skorpioneMM
skorpioneMM 2
Any help please? In the latest logs, the end off the log are "https://user%40hotmail.com:password@1fichier.com/?zkqn5lopne&auth=1: Server returned 401 Unauthorized (authorization failed)" Googled a little and i can see that this is a response from the server about something related to FFmpeg? Luke 37192
The remote server is returning a 401 error when ffmpeg tries to talk to it. That means one of two things - the url you've entered into your strm file is incorrect, or it is correct but perhaps there's some formatting or encoding problem with the way the server is passing it into ffmpeg. Since this is your strm file and your remote server, you are the one who is going to have to answer that question. The answer to that question will determine whether you need to fix or strm file or whether we need to fix our command lines.
skorpioneMM 2
Hi Luke, lot of thanks for your help. The server where are the video files not are mine, its a common file hosting called 1fichier.com that i been using for many years for backup my video files and stream from Kodi. The strm files are exactly in the same format that i use for Plex and Kodi (i can play these files without problems in both Kodi and Plex)
Luke 37192
maybe you can compare the contents of the strm file to what is being passed into ffmpeg

Luke 37192
the strm file points to the same url being passed into ffmpeg. While I understand this might be an Emby bug strm files are unique to each individual setup which means you're going to have to be able to access them, investigate, and compare the contents to the url's being passed into ffmpeg. You can learn more about strm files on our wiki which has a few examples of what they look like: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Strm%20files

skorpioneMM 2
Hi @@Luke, i spend few hours comparing the video files with the strm url linked to and i dont found any strange on that. Also i made a lot of testings in some different scenarios and the results are that this type of url inside the strm files that are https://user:password@server/file can be played in all media players that i tried, that is Kodi, Plex, Gom Player and VLC (VLC is the only one of these four that prompot for authentication, but after you put the user and password the file can be played as normally) but not play in Emby.Another thing i tested is if i get the direct hotlink url from the file, in this case (format https://a-12.1fichier.com/file) the Emby player its capable to play the file without any problem but i can use these direct hotlinks in my strm files because these links expires and renew every 4-6 hours whereby thats not the solution. In definitively, i think thats something wrong with Emby in the way he resolve the strm files that have an url that requires authentication... is that possible? Luke 37192
So you've verified the link in the strm file is identical to what's in the transcoding log?

Luke 37192
then you'll have to find out the exact reason for the remote server throwing an error, and then based on that we'll go from there.
skorpioneMM 2
then you'll have to find out the exact reason for the remote server throwing an error, and then based on that we'll go from there. Then we can close that thread because i dont have any type of idea about that. The only things i know is that Emby doesnt like the links that require authentication but i dont know the exact reason for that. Only thing i can do if you want to try yourself or anyone from Emby team is give you a fresh premium account from 1fichier.com and see the results fromyour own because like i said i dont have any idea of why Emby doesnt like these type of links. Anyways, thanks for all your help, hope i can use Emby in the future if any day i can work properly withe these type of strm.
