Android Status Bar icons remain visible at top of TV screen

I have just installed the Emby TV app on my Tronfy MXIII Android media box.  There is a smartphone-type status bar showing at the top of my Emby TV screen that isn't present anywhere else on that box except while in the Android settings menu.  Is that a glitch or is there something I can configure to get rid of it.  It's pretty irritating having those status bar icons glaring at me above my movie screen.

There is probably something the app needs to do to tell it to never be there and it just isn't because it was designed for the TV boxes that don't have this status bar.

It will be looked at in a future release.  I'm not sure if maybe there is something you can do at the device or OS level to banish it but there may be.

Been through everything configurable on that box -- there's nothing there to affect or even access that status bar.  There are even several "notification" icons to be cleared but there's no way to clear them.  Whatever blanks the status bar must be something all apps are expected to do--as far as I can see, Emby is the only app on that box displaying it.  Kodi works fine, and even the Android mobile version of Emby I had running on that box before I found out about the TV version never displayed that status bar.  Not sure how big the market share is for these little Android Media sticks and boxes compared to Roku, Amazon FireTV, Chromecast, etc, but there seem to be hundreds of different brands of them all using the same basic hardware, OS and UI.  I can't believe I'm the only one out there having this problem

I still haven't found any way to access or clear the notifications or otherwise access the status bar.  It's just a swipe-down on a smartphone, but there's no touchscreen for a TV-connected M-box.  Clearing the notifications wouldn't get rid of the rest of the status-bar icons anyhow.  If anyone knows a keyboard shortcut to access the status bar and a way to disable it please post it.

Just skimmed through it quickly but that appears to be for touch devices, not android tv devices.  When I swipe on my TV all I get is fingerprints I have to windex off.

Thats funny... :D

But, it should be some thing similar for android TV too

As for the notifications, you can turn them off for the app via the device's app settings.  You'll want to do that because true Android TV uses notifications for recommendations and they will keep on getting created unless you disable them.

if i watch some porn when the mrs pops out i don't want it to suggest porn for me to watch on her arrival back home.

Also these notifications can't be swiped away so I'm forced to reboot and hope she doesn't try and use this app.

What version of the app are you using and on what device?

The app is designed for use on true Android TV devices that don't have a status bar and the notification system on those devices is used for suggestions.  So they are not dismiss-able by design of the OS.

However, as mentioned above, I do think this should be a non-issue on any recent version of the app but not sure how you would get it onto a device with a status bar.
