DevDog 0
Would someone be able to tell me if this would be possible. The Emby server is running on a different subnet then the Chromecast and Andriod app. The Android app and Chromecast are on the same network, the Android is able to communicate with the Chromecast and emby server. With the chromecast being initialized by the Android would it be able to open stream to the Emby server?
mjktg99 34
I believe at this point, the casting comes directly from the server so the Chromecast needs to be on the same network as the server. I have seen this scenario brought up before and it wasn't completely dismissed so there might be hope for this in the future but I don't think it will be soon. Luke 37347
the simplest way to think of it is that whatever ip address the app is using to connect to emby server, the chromecast also needs to be able to connect to the server using that address
DevDog 0
Thanks, I have tried this out and it does work. Also there is no need for the VPN tunnel as from the app on the android can use the public internet to connect to the Emby server. -D
