lifespeed 42
Normally one just copies the shortcut for a program to C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs This doesn't seem to work for Emby Theater, the shortcut properties point to the installing user: C:\Users\User_1\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\System\MediaBrowser.UI.exe Seems like a simple and obvious need, let all the users watch media. How is this done differently with Emby?
Deathsquirrel 741
You have different users logging onto a HTPC with different user accounts? Not to derail the thread, but why?
lifespeed 42
You have different users logging onto a HTPC with different user accounts? Not to derail the thread, but why? There are numerous reasons for users to have their own login to a PC, it is not just an "HTPC". Does Emby not support being available to all users? Solution ebr 14925 Posted September 10, 2015 Solution Share Posted September 10, 2015 At this point in time, you would need to install it for each of them.

Deathsquirrel 741
...it is not just an "HTPC". Does Emby not support being available to all users? That was my guess. If this is not a dedicated HTPC this is not the client I would personally recommend. I use this client on the pc in our family room but anywhere I'm not 15 feet from the screen and holding a remote control I prefer the web UI or the win 10 app. Both work well with more common PC controls. lifespeed 42
I'll look at the Win 10 app. I don't want to transcode, though.

The web ui can use externl players so that can mean no transcoding too.
lifespeed 42
Unfortunately Windows 10 is still buggy, and one of the bugs is the windows store app fails to start on some installations. And I'm kind of reluctant to spend 10 hours on re-iinstalling and setting up, given I just did that! So I just installed Emby Theater for now. I have to admit the transcoding thing has me somewhat confused. Using the vaunted Shark007 codecs my Windows 10 PC can play any format without transcoding. But can Emby take advantage of that or does it just assume the standard Microsoft capabilities? DTS-HD is an obvious one I would not want transcoded.
