Trevor68 48
Hi, Just wondered what people's plans are for LiveTV now that Windows 10 finally removed WMC altogther. I've been looking around for a solution, but it would seem a lot of them have minimal support for Apps on my Samsung H Series TV. I installed the Emby one first, but it has no LiveTV at all. I then visited the Kodi Forums, but the Samsung App there appeared pretty much abandoned, same thing over at NextPVR I guess I'm missing something obvious somewhere, I've never used TV apps before, is there a recommended one for Samsung? christoph86 12
The answer is don't upgrade your current WMC computer to Windows

mellomade 140
I never understood everyone's need for bleeding edge upgrades. EOL for Windows 8 is January 2023. Eight years is a long ass time.... One of the cool things that has come from WMC's demise is that SiliconDust now has some skin in the software game. Commerical endeavours like that tend to push timelines faster than open source. Edited July 29, 2015 by mellomade

Scott750 29
Would be nice if someone made WMC a standalone app and then updated it. Because WMC satisfies all of my live TV and recording needs and its easy for the kids/grandparents to use. None of the other live TV apps available seem to fit that bill. Deihmos 147
Microsoft wants all WMC users to upgrade to XBOX One devices. Microsoft is also no longer focusing on the Xbox one TV features. At the end of the day the masses just aren't interested.

Deihmos 147
Well I was quoting the Microsoft execs. That cable box connected to an Xbox has to be the dumbest idea ever. That's what they were referring too. I don't see this option taking off either unless it supports network tuners. http://www.theverge.com/2015/7/29/9064527/microsoft-xbox-one-entertainment-features-future Edited August 5, 2015 by Deihmos

This was more of an integration thing, allowing you to seamlessly switch between your Xbox One and cable box etc. Unrelated to this, they've recently added TV tuner support, or now announced the coming DVR functionality. They've decided there is more future in this. Edited August 6, 2015 by sub3

ebr 14913
Pretty cool. Of course, ours is going to work before 2016 and it won't require a $400 client and it will work with your network tuner so will also work with your (unprotected) cable channels . ebr 14913
Will it work with PCI Tuners? Not in its first iteration but neither will Microsoft's and don't count us out for having that in the future.
drakus72 17
M$ wants the XBOX1 and future xboxes to be a compete gaming/media system. Since Win 10 is their last OS (so they say) it will be interesting to see what they do. I dropped WMC for NextPVR for the time being until EmbyTV is stable enough and working well enough. I have been testing it off and on on my main system, but my dev system is linux (wish they would push the dev to it as well - mine only updates beta even though it is set for dev, Am I missing something?) EmbyTV is the future!

chef 3745
Thinking about using my 8" windows tablet and my chromecast for awhile, anyone else doing that? I am! I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab with emby and a chromecast. I also use Xbox in my front room. I only utilize "play to" features in my home. My htpc was converted solely into a server.
