mMO 0
Hello, I need to play files over HTTP instead of SMB, so I can use external players and don't have any transcoding. - like it's possible in Emby Plugin for Kodi. Is there already a function for that or will that feature be implement in future?

Luke 37118
well there might be some issues with external players that need to be worked out, but it should work fine with the internal player.
mMO 0
yeah internal player works fine, but I want avoid transcoding because of the high cpu usage.
Luke 37118
the internal player is going to have the same capabilities as vlc. so if transcoding is the concern, there won't be any difference. just go into settings and configure your desired bitrate and it will work fine and direct stream as much as possible. mMO 0
I thought it is up to the available codecs and did not mention the Max Streaming Bitrate Setting. After increasing Bitrate, Server CPU is zero while playing. Problem solved, thanks!
