kingy444 108
It appears with the latest update i am no longer able to use 'Folders' as an option to display media Has this been removed purposely? I really liked to browse media this way
Happy2Play 8296
You need to look at the new "View Styles" options in My Preferences.

kingy444 108
*Apologies screenshot didnt post first time. This is where I am talking about. Previously folders was selected, however since the last update the option has disappeared (and my selection is now empty as you can see) Edited April 19, 2015 by kingy444
Happy2Play 8296
I believe you use "My Media" then set uncheck the styles options.
kingy444 108
I like having both though, I dont want to loose the rich metadata views as they are useful at times, I just mainly prefer to use the folders. Wouldn't have thought it to be an issue to have it as an option on the main screen. Can a Dev provide any insight to the removal?
Maleficarum 68
I don't even get that option. I now have no sections at all and a "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: filename" error. The server is now useless as is any client. Edited April 19, 2015 by Maleficarum
Luke 37098
Users for all apps are constantly requesting these so we needed a way to apply them to every client and not just the web client. The web client media folders option was always going to be temporary until such a way could be developed. Now we have that ability to revert to simple folder navigation by disabling the rich view styles. If that option isn't showing up for you it's because you don't have any libraries of type movies, tv, games or music. If all your libraries are defined as unset mixed content, then all you need to do is disable the grouping features.
Maleficarum 68
I had all libraries set as per content, movies as movies, tv as tv. They were there fine until the update at which point I received that error whenever going to the home page or trying to look at the menu. A full uninstall and reinstall sorted it out ( a standard uninstall still left the same issue). Everything is working as before now with the exception of the issue I posted earlier. kingy444 108
@@Luke all my media is setup in movie and tv in the library. All i am talking about is the ability to use plain folders as a section on the home screen. The section still appears to be there as part of the 'My Media' listing but prefer it on the homescreen as i have always had it. Understand needing the universal option accross all clients but wouldn't have thought it to be hard to allow plain folders display as an option within the home screen. Is it possible to allow users to choose from both. Its a fast easy way to sort content for the family for me

kingy444 108
The folders option is now contained within My Media from what i can see. Trying to prevent the extra clicks if possible (and to be honest like the layout i have had previously) If it cant be done its disappointing but guess i will make do
Luke 37098
it can be done, i'm trying to see if you can figure it out. because if you can't then i know it was made too difficult. so read the options that are there. right now i just don't know if you're unable to find it or if you're just not reading anything. kingy444 108
I have looked but could be doing the old staring me in the face thing. Still coming up blank all i can see is "display a folder view to show plain media folders" which is ticked, but doesnt add anything to the homepage sections

Sounds similar to what I and a few others have seen recently. I believe it has something to do within the config files. Happy pointed out some got it fixed by manually making a change to one of the files, but I had to delete that folder and reinstall

kingy444 108
I have the view styles section (and dont want to disable rich metadat for the sources at all) all i am after is what you get when you click 'folders' under 'my media' but as a homepage section of its own. It was there previously but appears to have been removed recently
