KRA 39
I got one of these Ezcast devices to test dlna playback (as alternative to chromecast) : http://eud.dx.com/product/ec-ec-e2-widicast-wireless-hdmi-display-dongle-wi-fi-ezcast-dlna-miracast-airplay-black-844279809#.VO4RrYI-6Uk Some things work better than chromecast, some are worse. I'm missing the ability to pause/stop etc. Volume controls and mute work if I open external remote. But no play/pause or stop. Is this a limitation of dlna, the device, MBS or setting ? Also when first installed it refused to play some content, but I made a profile for the device and now it direct plays everything I've tested so far. Fortunatly the device (unlike chromecast) does support 24p, unfortunatly you have to set it manually, it does not autodetect. And media with wrong framerate is handled much worse than chromecast. KRA 39
More testing and I've found that the device does support pause/stop etc controls (using ezcast software, and buil in dlna support in windows 10 I can use, play/pause, stop, skip etc). But MBS seems to just offload the media to the device and then be done with it, because watch status does not get updated either. And the device has some playback issues, 24hz support is a big bonus over chromecast, but playback is not perfect, framerate seems to slow down quite often, so it's not perfect 24p playback (I'm picky with this stuff, that's why chromecast is just a gadget and not a valid option for playback.) Also seems to be less buffering with Ezcast than chromecast.
