AJNinGA 1
The latest update is not creating the MBC Tile (or strip) in WMC 7. Screen shot shows WMC7 with no MB3 strip. Also attached is install log. mbc-install.log MBClassic-Msi.log Edited January 27, 2015 by AJNinGA
ebr 14929
Looks like a permissions problem. Try running the installer from the web site and be sure to respond to any UAC prompts.
AJNinGA 1
I'm not sure what you mean about running from the website. I download the MBC installer and opened that file. I even right-clicked and selected Run As Admin. No luck

AJNinGA 1
Ok. Tried that today, still no luck. Should I uninstall MBC? Also, I use the MCE Reset Toolbox which allows me to create new tiles. Can you provide path and arguments required to create my own tile to MBC? ebr 14929
Also, I use the MCE Reset Toolbox which allows me to create new tiles. That is probably why it is having trouble. You can try uninstalling MBC but that basically occurs before any update anyway so I'm not sure it will help. You may need to reset your WMC environment back to an initial state before you messed with it with the menu hacking tool. Then see if MBC will install. AJNinGA 1
I'll try that next, but I'm certain that I have installed previous MBC updates and used MCE RTB afterwards. Because I would rearrange the tiles and strips to my pleasure and then the MBC installer would re-create your strip and move the tile back there. And I would go back and re-arrange the tiles and strips, etc... Until now Edited January 30, 2015 by AJNinGA
AJNinGA 1
Hey. With MCE RTB, I selected Restore Defaults and did a MBC Install...no luck. I tried again after I un-installed MCE RTB. Nothing worked. However another program's tiles and strip remained visible and intact after all these attempts. I don't see a MBC un-install option anywhere. Any other ideas? Edited February 1, 2015 by AJNinGA
AJNinGA 1
Well, looking around on my HTPC, I dont see any entries for MBC at all. How do I know MBC is on my computer right now? Edited February 1, 2015 by AJNinGA
ebr 14929
I think that the whole issue is that it isn't on your PC right now. The installation failed with a permissions error. Exception occurred: The specified application can not be registered or launched, access denied ... Product: Media Browser Classic -- Installation failed. AJNinGA 1
When I execute the current setup file from your website, I get no UAC requests. I get the MB banner, the status bar fills in green along the bottom and that's it. I have downloaded the executable file a handful of times. It's SB Sunday so I am not touching my computer the rest of the day.
AJNinGA 1
Any chance of getting an executable of the previous MBC installer? I thought I had an older version, but when I ran it, the banner for 243 appeared on screen. Edited February 2, 2015 by AJNinGA

AJNinGA 1
Well, what I have done is create a new media center tile pointing to MB Theater. Seems to be working right now, but I'll reserve judgement until the wife uses MBT for a while. I am still curious why MBC installer is now failing on my machine. I have installed other Media Center plugins and have manipulated the start menu with MCE RTB with no issues.
AJNinGA 1
Well, unfortunately MBT is crashing too often (as reported here: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/17962-mediabrowseruiexe-crashing/?p=174959). I know that you all are working to update MBT, so.... Is there anything else I can do to help out troubleshooting my MBC issue (not being able to install)? Otherwise, I need to switch to another product for my TV series database/viewing needs until MBC/MBT is up to speed. Thanks

Deihmos 147
A refresh of what? A complete reinstall. I wouldn't advise using software that messes with the system files to change the tiles.
AJNinGA 1
Of windows7? I think not. Not yet at least. The only program not working correctly is the MBC. Considering that it cannot even install on my system right now since this latest update, I am questioning your installer. Granted I might be the only one. As I have mentioned, I have installed and removed other MC7 plugins on his system since this issue surfaced, and none have had any troubles.
