Adjusting Display

Hi

I've just switched the display I am using for MBC and I am having problems adjusting the screen display.

I'm not sure what information is required so if anything is missing, please ask.

I'm running MBC 3.0.243.0 it is reported as being up to date

I'm running the Chocolate theme

The display is now an LCD television connected thru HDMI

I am running at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, Media Center is configured to use these settings.

When I initially started MBC I had a blue border on all 4 sides both when using the interface and playing videos.

I have adjusted the over/under scan settings to remove the blue screen border. There are some interface problems, dor example "unplayed" is truncated on the p.

My main problem is this.

When I start playing a video it is correctly displayed on the screen, however, after about 3 seconds it appears to zoom in on the video losing 5-10% of the image on all four sides.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I would reset the overscan settings you created in MBC to zero and try different TV setups in WMC to see if any of them solve the problem.

Also be sure your video drivers are up to date.

Thanks for your reply

I reset to zero when I switched devices. I could see the video zooming inside the MBC area of the screen, the MBC area did not zoom so it seems more likely that it is MBC causing the problem rather than MC7.

I had this problem when trying to run 1080p on a 720p TV. Is this the case for you? If so, change the output to 720p on the HTPC and try again.

MBC doesn't handle any of the display stuff (other than the overscan settings I had you zero out).  It is all handled by WMC.

The way I have seen these issues solved in the past is to change the type of TV you are telling WMC that you have.  You have to realize that WMC was created nearly 10 years ago so it doesn't always know how to work properly with your modern equipment.  But changing between the different types will often correct these types of issues.

Thanks it's a full HD.

I've had another go at setting up MC7's display options and plugging the cable into another HDMI socket. I've also tried reconfiguring the display from 60Hz to 50Hz, some success, when I put everything back to what it was before, MBC was then displaying too large for the screen so I reset the XML file to zeroes and MBC is now displaying correctly but I am still having the problem with played videos.

I have tried some other videos and all display correctly when started but the then zoom in, watching the channel logos it would appear that the zoom is horizontal only rather than both axis.

The content is SD TV (720x576) but with an aspect ration of 16:9 is it possible that MBC is not scaling it correctly?

WMC has its own zoom settings and, I believe, it remembers them.  Play something via the normal WMC library and make sure your not set to a zooming level of some sort.

Sorry to dig this up from last year ... but interestingly, I'm just experiencing this issue now after updating to Emby 3.0.292.0.  Seems as though all files are playing overscanned. I've tried resetting WMC to no avail and have tried different monitor settings, and I'm not sure what else I can reset. :-\

Any help or new insight on this issue?

EDIT: this only happens on playing videos.
