BrianMac21 1
Hi guys, I've been using media browser for a while now but I said I'd love to have it working on XBMC with a nice skin. I keep getting errors every time I try it. I went through the tutorials on how to set it up but no matter what, I get some kind of error. At the moment, I'm getting the error "XBMB3C service is not running. Please restart XBMC" but I restarted XBMC and nothing happened. I'm running the latest Media Browser server and XBMC Gotham. Please find the log file at this url; https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14902971/xbmc.log Any help would be appreciated.
buddyweiser 105
I actually just installed xbmc Gotham this morning and got this same error. I tried to go into the settings and put in user name and password but it still won't connect to mb server. Both are on the same machine. Angelblue05 4130
I will try to help you. For future reference, you do not need to enable XBMC debug to troubleshoot XBMB3C/MediaBrowser. You simply have to enable it within the add-on. Anyway, moving on! I see that you are using XBMB3C 0.9.713 which is a build that's a bit behind. I don't see defining errors in your log. So you could try the beta repo to see if this solves your current issue. I think the current beta version is 0.9.728. Here's the link: http://cdn.mediabrowser.tv/downloads/addons/xbmb3c/kodi-beta-repo/repository.beta.mediabrowser.kodi-1.0.1.zip Make sure that once you install the beta repo, you disable your other XBMB3C version 0.9.713 (you can also uninstall it, if the beta version works for you). When you do this, it might crash your XBMC. Don't worry about it, just restart and the XBMB3C should be disabled when you restart XBMC. Download/install the new MediaBrowser add-on from the beta repo and put in your information. Restart XBMC one more time, to be on the safe side. On a side note, if you haven't chosen a skin, make sure you use a compatible MB3 skin (you can find them within the XBMB3C/MediaBrowser repos). Let us know how it goes! Angelblue05 4130
I am personally using Gotham. XBMB3C/MediaBrowser will work on both versions. The only thing being affected by the version is the skin you will choose (I think there's only Titan skin and 1080XF available for kodi.) Edit: I'm sure there will be more MB3 skins available when kodi becomes the new official stable version. Hi AngelBlue, This actually helped alot. Thanks alot. I thought I was going mad. I have one small issue though; I can see all my movies, tv shows etc using the standard xbmc skin but I cannot see them using the Media Browser skin; any ideas why this might be? Thanks alot for your help, I do appreciate it
Angelblue05 4130
What skin have you tried? Sorry, I should have said, what MB3 skin have you tried... Edited December 9, 2014 by Angelblue05
BrianMac21 1
What skin have you tried? Sorry, I should have said, what MB3 skin have you tried... I just got it working. It was my own fault; I didn't realise you had to tell XBMC to use the MediaBrowser library on the home screen, This is amazing by the way. A massive competitor against any of the major platforms except this is platform independent, I'm really impressed. Thanks alot for your help; I really do appreciate it. Your great
buddyweiser 105
I also figured my problem out. I assumed Kodi would auto detect the server, but it did not. Once I configured the MB3 plugin with server ip and user name/pass everything worked. I'm now playing around with 1080xf and liking it alot
Angelblue05 4130
Yes, the auto detect needs a bit of work, hehe. It's always best to manually make sure your Kodi MediaBrowser add-on is setup correctly.
buddyweiser 105
lol I see that now, I just assumed it would work as I'm currently installing only on the same machine that I run MBS on. Thanks for the help!
mamikel 5
Hi, I've reviewed the information here but am still unable to get MB working - I've posted to a new thread here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=215295 with some of the log information. Help!! thanks Matt
Angelblue05 4130
How is your setup? Is your Kodi on the same machine as Media Browser?
mamikel 5
Yes, I'm using the latest Kodi stable release (but have also tried the latest development build as well as trying XBMC Gotham) and have enabled the MediaBrowser Add-On as well as confirming the url, port and login information. Note, I have MB and Kodi on the same machine with Windows 8.1 installed with the latest patches.I enabled logging but seem to be getting inconsistent errors. But having said that, most seem to centre around accessing the url which at one stage the url being called was:http://192.168.1.3:8096/mediabrowser/Ite...t=originalCertainly, I can browse to: http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/web/dashboard.html and around the mediabrowser web interface. Part of the log that seems relevant is:16:08:11 T:5084 NOTICE: Unable to connect to 192.168.1.3:8096 : timed out16:08:11 T:5084 NOTICE: XBMB3C SkinHelperThread -> [XBMB3C SkinHelperThread] exception in SetMB3WindowProperties: timed out16:08:11 T:1536 NOTICE: Unable to connect to 192.168.1.3:8096 : timed out16:08:11 T:1536 ERROR: Exception in thread Thread-2:Traceback (most recent call last):File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\system\python\Lib\threading.py", line 810, in __bootstrap_innerself.run()File "C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.xbmb3c\resources\lib\InProgressItems.py", line 44, in runself.updateInProgress()File "C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.xbmb3c\resources\lib\InProgressItems.py", line 69, in updateInProgressuserid = downloadUtils.getUserId()File "C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.xbmb3c\resources\lib\DownloadUtils.py", line 58, in getUserIdauthOk = self.authenticate()File "C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.xbmb3c\resources\lib\DownloadUtils.py", line 110, in authenticateresp = self.downloadUrl(url, postBody=messageData, type="POST", authenticate=False)File "C:\Users\Matthew\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\plugin.video.xbmb3c\resources\lib\DownloadUtils.py", line 449, in downloadUrlconn.request(method=type, url=urlPath, body=postBody, headers=head)File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\system\python\Lib\httplib.py", line 995, in request...any thoughts? Angelblue05 4130
Well, what I'm seeing here is most likely a sequence of events that started with the timeout. It doesn't really say the cause of the timeout. Are you doing anything specific before the timeout happens or is Media Browser add-on simply not working? Having a full log would certainly help. When the timeout happens, do you see anything in the Media Browser log? Edited January 17, 2015 by Angelblue05
mamikel 5
Nothing that I can think of. I've tried doing a full uninstall and a reinstall etc. Once installed, I open Kodi, go into the add-ons and add MediaBrowser, configure it and that's pretty much it. Please see attached and thanks Couldn't see anything in MediaBrowser even acknowledging the existence of Kodi/XBMC kodiS1.log Edited January 17, 2015 by mamikel
mamikel 5
Here's another log I've just taken. Any thoughts on why it's trying to connect to this url: http://192.168.1.3:8096/mediabrowser/Items/dummy/Images/Primary?Format=original (I cannot browse to it) kodi.log Edited January 17, 2015 by mamikel
Angelblue05 4130
Just out of curiosity, are you able to browse to 192.168.1.3:8096/mediabrowser ? Does it load? I'm still thinking of what it could be. It just seem to not be able to reach your server. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mamikel 5
AngelBlue it was absolutely related to connectivity I got the address (192.168.1.103) from the System tab in the Media Browser Classic Configurator and assumed it would be the correct one. When I selected Configure Media Browser on the context menu (from the Media Browser Server Icon in the system tray) it directs me to: http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/web/dashboard.html I tried localhost in the configuration of MB within Kodi but it did not work. My understanding was that localhost was actually 127.0.0.1 but when I first tried this (after trying the above two options and uninstalls/reinstalls, disabling the firewall etc) it did not work. But today's a new day and I approached with a fresh head and with the belief that it was connectivity. As per your suggestion, I tried to browse to the address 192.168.1.3.... but was unable to connect. I then retried localhost which failed and once again tried 127.0.0.1 and it worked. So, it's all good now thanks for your help. In summary: I have the latest builds of Media Browser Server and have an account with username and password set up. I have the latest stable build of Kodi. Both are installed on the same machine running windows 8.1 Within MB config * first tab I have the IP address 127.0.0.1 and port 8096 and the user and password set up in Media Browser server supplied. * Network Tab I've told it to use the same machine rather than SAMBA * I have not as yet worried about the other tabs. thanks for your patience and assistance! cheers Matt
mamikel 5
Now that we have that resolved, you mentioned MB friendly skins but these appear to refer to earlier builds?? What skin would you recommend? The ideal for me would be largely to have the folders I've set up within MB on the main menu in Kodi. thanks
