GhostRider 46
Hi I have my movie collection setup with box set collections organised on disk such as: Movie Collection [box set] Movie 1 (1998) Movie 2 (2001) Movie 3 (2003) Using MBC is there a way to have a tab for just box sets the same way that the server web browser can separate movies and collections using the folder layout as above? Is there some setting in MBC I can set? I am using the default theme - chocolate. Many thanks Edited November 10, 2014 by GhostRider
ebr 14912
The user setting on the server (Show a "Collections View") governs whether or not this shows up in MBC as well.
GhostRider 46
Just checked - that settings is checked on (I have just one user on the server) but I do not get a collections tab in MBC - only favorites, Movies, Movies by Genera. Any suggestions why I don't see the collections tab? Edited November 10, 2014 by GhostRider
ebr 14912
I'm not positive but that view may not discover manually made collections like that. Do they show in the web client?
GhostRider 46
Yes, in the web client I have a collections and movies tab in which I can see just box sets in the collections tab or all movies in the movies tab. Would be nice if MBC could add a collections tab in the same way.
ebr 14912
That is actually different. I mean on your home page in the web client. Is there a tile labeled just "Collections" that takes you to them? Are you sure you've turned on the option in user preferences to create a collections view? GhostRider 46
p.s. on a different topic is there an easy way to delete the attachments from my old posts? I guess I will runout of space soon.
ebr 14912
This is the view I get on the web client, there is a collections tile. And do these collections show up in that view? If they do and you are not getting the collections view in MBC, then it must an inconsistency in the way the server delivers this information to the web client vs. MBC. I imagine if you were to eliminate the manual setup and use the web client facility or Auto Box sets it may clear up.

Don't use attachments. Use the little image button on the toolbar when you are editing a post to insert images inline.

Yes, if I click on the collections tile I get my box sets shown as I would expect:
ebr 14912
As a test, create a couple of collections with the web client and then see if the item shows in MBC.

GhostRider 46
Hi I have carried the following test: Moved movie folders for Alien V Predator collection out of AVP [box set] folder Deleted AVP [box set] folder Scanned media library on server Created new AVP Collection in Web Client Enabled download images from Web for new collection Added the two AVP movies into this collection Scanned media library on server The results in MBC are somewhat confusing: A collections tab now appears in MBC, it has the two AVP movie posters displayed - not the collection art work for AVP collection. None of the old style [box set] collections are displayed. The Movies tab has latest films listed by films only The Movies by Genre tab has latest films and when these are in old style [box set] folders the box set art work is displayed OK rather than the individual films Is it possible to get this added to the list of things to fix on the server side? ebr 14912
A collections tab now appears in MBC, it has the two AVP movie posters displayed - not the collection art work for AVP collection. None of the old style [box set] collections are displayed. What you are looking at on that first screen is a "Recently Added List" and the most recently added items are those movies. That list doesn't care about the structure of the folder beneath it. It just displays the most recent content from within it. If you actually go into that item, it will show you your collection. @@Luke, this appears to be either a bug or limitation on the server end. The "Collections" media folder that is generated apparently only contains collections defined through our facility and not ones that are manually defined in the file system. GhostRider - your best bet here will probably be to flatten your physical structure and use either Auto Box Sets or manually create collections with the new method. The method you are using now is still supported (kinda) at the moment but is undocumented and probably heading towards a phase-out.

Appreciate the help, alas I am not very happy about creating collections in the Web Client. I have no means of seeing the art work when browsing the folders in Windows Explorer, I guess the art work is hidden away in the cache files somewhere. This makes backing up a nightmare as files are nolonger together. Not tried Auto Box Sets yet but I guess this uses links which makes managing file folders difficult if you have several movie folders and say you want to move just one of them to a different disk. Can you update the links for only the subset that were moved? I guess Auto Box Sets has the same issue as the Web Client as the box set art work gets separated from the movie folders.
