Are these from a Mixed Content Library?

But sound like this topic.

No, as you can see in the screen shot it is just shows

That does not mean much as you only have Shows in the Collection and If you add a Movie that would change.

What is the library content type those items came from?

Huh?!

If I add other things it would show other things, is that what you are saying?
Shows come from TV.  Does Emby list as Shows if they come from another library

Have yet to make a scroll collection for Shows though.  I did reproduce with Movies in other topic.  Still testing trying to reproduce in 4.8.5.0.

Collection items can come from any library.

That is not what you asked.

You asked "What is the library content type those items came from?"
I responded "Shows come from TV.  Does Emby list as Shows if they come from another library"

You said "That does not mean much as you only have Shows in the Collection and If you add a Movie that would change"

I told you "If I add other things it would show other things"

Obviously collections can hold any content type.
What is your point here?

Talking is circle with no true answer.  Collections item come from where or what every library content type you add them from.

But still unable to reproduce your issue in 4.8.5.0 so either something changed and you have delete and recreate the collection or there is a specific variable to the setup that I do not know how to reproduce.  I can reproduce on Movies in Beta but not TV.

So it will come back to how do we reproduce this issue?

@Lukeis there some legacy setting that would cause scroller in Collections (does not appear to be display or resolution).  As I have only found one library so far to cause it for Movies on one server but not another with the exact same media and library content type.  Unable to reproduce at all for Shows.

Will try to compare api library configs on these libraries per server.

Not sure if this is jiggity's case, but one thing that causes unwanted horizontal scrolling (though it is all unwanted to me) while showing only one media type is mixing Movies with Seasons (not entire Shows). Though, of course, the Seasons do no show after this update, either:

Hi, the seasons not showing is resolved for the next release. Thanks.

Is that an existing Collection or New Collection?

Can you test New?  But will guess existing may be broken requiring recreation, but just a guess as the view is already written.

But still don't know for sure how to make one that scrolls and one that does not/

I can't do much with my library as the discogs plug is back to being broken and it is taking 10+ hours to do a library scan

So until that is fixed, no

Or until the way music files are ingested is overhauled, no

In cases of collections containing multiple media types, that is currently by design. Can you please show us an example of a collection that is side scrolling? What's in it?

Shows and movies don't split into side scrolling, only shows and seasons, or Movies and episodes.  This is a poor UI/UX design

Mixing Shows and Movies does not create scroller but adding Seasons does.  So I guess it comes down to specifics as it is dependent on what you are putting in a Collection.

Movies and Shows no scroller

anything else cause scrollers.

But yes previously I could make this happen on Movies but not now.

It shouldn't!
Collections are supposed to be content agnostic, and there is no design reason for them to be horizontal scrolling for any platform.

Welcome to the club. Many of us are quite unhappy with this sudden design change.  At best, we've just gotten a vague "more options to control this are possible for future updates" response.  The Android TV client did it right: while it defaults to this new view, it also has an "All Items" button to enable to old view.

And an issue across the board when one client does its own thing.  But not a TV app user so which client is defective?🤣

Probably the one that has you needlessly scrolling horizontally when webpages essentially have unlimited vertical space.

I think the answer is obvious. It's the app managed by the dev who continues to ignore users.

Actually, this has been an issue for years where one app does one thing and the others do not.  So, everyone wants to compare Android to everything else.  There is no universal dev standpoint across all platforms just similarities.   So, if the time was taken to add to one then why not all?
