Unable to find server thru emby connect.  I can sign in but the server is not shown.  Tried to connect to server manually and is unable to find server.  Using Win11 Edge browser at app.emby.media on home network

Tried to connect to server manually and is unable to find server.

Hi, what is the exact message that you get? Usually it will have suggestions on what to do. Did you read and try those?

Does a site like canyouseeme.org show Emby ports open?

Are you able to connect to the displayed WAN:port shown on dashboard?

Did you link your local user to Connect Email?

Are you connecting http or https?

I Checked my router and the port seems to be set up correctly for the emby server machine

Looks okay but don't know this router configs.

Only other thing assuming your port forwarded correctly is if your ISP is using CGNAT.

Verify Public IP and Port

Can you do a traceroute per the KB.

Since other clients can connect locally that should rule out the firewall, but would ask is this a Windows server on Win 11?  What are your firewall rules?  What is the system network type set to as Win 11 likes to default to Public.

tried to connect again to the lan and the wan both unsuccessful.  The port did not become open until  i turned off the VPN on the win11.  The network is setup as private and is not a server. The Ip matches the emby address

So with the VPN off now you're all set?

If we're still talking app.emby.media, there's no getting around the suggestions in those bullet points. You have to do one of those, or:

  • use your local web app, http://ip:port
  • use an installed Emby app (windows, android, iOS).
