Steveo369 10
I am routinely receiving a "No Compatible Streams..." error displayed when attempting to playback Recorded TV using Emby. My configuration is a Windows PC Server, Windows PC Client using Chrome to access the server using the IP address. Live TV setup is HDHomeRun using Emby for recording TV to a folder located on a drive within the server. This issue seems to be specific to Recorded TV playback. I can playback Live TV from the HDHR, and also play movies and other media within Emby Libraries hosted on my NAS. FireTV Stick clients, iOS clients, and even Emby Theater on the same Windows PC client all will play the Recorded TV files just fine. I've looked carefully through the transcoding settings and tried to make sure everything is set correctly to the limits of my knowledge, but can't seem to figure this one out. Problem persists after an Emby Server restart (potential solution listed in other posts). Attached are logs from the most recent attempt at playing a recorded TV show immediately after a server restart. Hopefully someone smarter than me can help me to figure this one out. Thanks in advance for any help provided! embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a03dac75-e887-4702-a7c7-81b4f0f2d2a2_1.txt Edited February 11 by Steveo369
Luke 37191
Hi, as a test, if you disable hardware transcoding, how does that compare?

Just turned Hardware Transcoding to "No", restarted Emby and tried again. Same issue. Here's two new logs from that attempt: embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-30ef8c32-d4b7-42af-9f36-d873998921e5_1.txt
Luke 37191
OK, when was this recorded? If you create a new recording, does this happen with that?
Steveo369 10
The (2) recordings I'm attempting to play were recorded yesterday (2/10/24), same machine (recent migration to a new PC). These are currently the only recordings I have available until I record some additional programs. Interestingly, watching time-shifted Recorded TV (starting a recording at the beginning while it's being recorded) seems to work just fine. I just attempted recording a short portion of a program and playing it back. Seemed to work fine. The other two files from yesterday are still struggling to play with any reliability. I have another question about why app.emby.media is not connecting locally when I'm on my network, but I'll start a new topic on that.
Steveo369 10
Another followup here - I recorded a few more programs today, and attempted to watch them. It seems that I get the "No compatible streams..." error when I am connected 'direct' with a link via my local IP address (http://local_IP:8096). In the Web App Settings, the Playback setting for Home Network quality is set to Auto. I have tried reducing this to 1080p/20mbps, but the "No Compatible Streams.." error continues. When I use app.emby.media, the transcoding starts (required to meet the max Internet Streaming Bitrate setting), and tends to work correctly. This is because when using app.emby.media, my Chrome Web App client doesn't identify that the device is on the same network. This causes other problems as described in my recent post here. Really confused about whatever is causing this behavior. Help appreciated.
Steveo369 10
Another followup to the above thread. I was able to reconfirm that this issue definitely appears to be related when connecting to Emby via the Web App at http://LOCAL_IP:8096, and does not occur when connecting to Emby using http://app.emby.media or http://tv.emby.media . Attached are logs from the following: Restart Emby Open browser to http://LOCAL_IP:8096, navigate to server dashboard (to review Activity pane) Open additional browser tab to http://LOCAL_IP:8096, navigate to Live TV->Recordings->Play "Super Bowl LVIII". Receive "No Compatible Streams..." error. Close tab, open new tab to http://app.emby.media, Live TV->Recordings->Play "Super Bowl LVIII". Program starts playing. Stop program. Open new tab to http://tv.app.emby.media, Live TV->Recordings->Play "Super Bowl LVIII". Program starts playing. Stop program. hardware_detection-63843364625.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ff9c1104-0620-4141-809a-2cbb6a3697e0_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-3ac98e1c-5457-4431-8626-0ebd7af220e0_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-8bbdf1d2-9016-45dc-ab9a-b795cba8be5a_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-c30cb62e-bbf5-43c1-b679-dfe261f87d1e_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e2606216-d265-48af-9307-a9049e0f2c83_1.txt
Solution Luke 37191 Posted February 13 Solution Share Posted February 13 Quote I was able to reconfirm that this issue definitely appears to be related when connecting to Emby via the Web App at http://LOCAL_IP:8096, and does not occur when connecting to Emby using http://app.emby.media or http://tv.emby.media . Hi, then this is a great sign that you'll see the same improvement with the next release of Emby Server.
