Vidman 589
so either of the tv plugins will suffice?
krustyreturns 191
The plugin in combination with the backend software. I only have experience with one of them, but yes, either should work.
rick355 3
btw, do any of you guys have an hdhr PLUS? It would be great if someone with one of these devices could test it. I had two of the hdhomerun connect versions, and just this last week I picked up a plus version, upgraded the homerun firmware, and now I can't get live TV from media browser on anything, even on the HTPC running the server. I honestly believe this has something to do with the homerun firmware upgrade. Before this live TV seemed to be working fine. I don't know what you would want me to do to test it, but I'm more than willing to help out as best as I can. I have tried taking the PLUS back out of the setup, but still no luck. TV seems to be fine in WMC
krustyreturns 191
Post the swmc log after you get a failed stream start. I wonder if its the plus that's causing the problem.
rick355 3
Well, here's my story! I bought the Plus because Microcenter had it for a really good price, $80, thinking I could add 2 more tuners to my network. After I installed it, I found out that WMC only supports a total of 4 tuners, which I already had. This morning I took the Plus out of the network, uninstalled the software and did a system restore back to when I originally installed it. Then I reinstalled the older version of the HDHR software that I had, and it told me there was upgraded software available for it, so I let it install it. And now everything is working as it should with the 2 Connect models If there's some other MC that supports more than 4 tuners, let me know. Sry I couldn't help out more as a tester, but I got my $85 back! I think the plus might have issues maybe because it does it's own transcoding. Actually the only benefit I got from it was I got slightly better reception with it. Looks like Tuner salad will work for more tuners! http://www.hack7mc.com/2010/08/increasing-tuner-limit-in-media-center-with-tunersalad.html Edited December 14, 2014 by rick355
krustyreturns 191
Yes, tunersalad is what I use too, works great. Glad you got it working.

techywarrior 688
I don't really use remote Live TV thru any of the apps but I was trying to help Scott test the WP app and I noticed that Live TV wasn't working at all for me right now. techywarrior 688
Since I'm guessing the 404 error is something to do with the change to use DLNA for the HDHomerun wouldn't it make sense that if the DLNA attempt fails that it falls back to the old method? techywarrior 688
Ah, I just found the new setting in ServerWMC to toggle DLNA on/off for MediaBrowser. I turned it off and still had Live TV fail. techywarrior 688
@@krustyreturns any thoughts as to why Live TV wouldn't be working any longer? I did rebuild my MB server and installed the latest release version at the same time so both of those are variables that have changed since the last time it worked. In trying to investigate I noticed that the channel URL it is trying to connect to doesn't seem to match any of the channels it claims to have detected in the lineup. When I view the channels via the Windows Network Devices list or via the HTTP server build into the HDHomerun the channel names are different. I believe the channel number in the URL that ServerWMC is trying to use is the physical channel number so it may be correct. And even then, I don't know why it no longer works anymore when I disable DLNA in ServerWMC. (everything works fine in WMC and I can play the channels directly from the HDHomerun)

krustyreturns 191
In dlna mode swmc doesn't really do much of anything except find a free tuner and send back the url to the tuner, and as near as I can tell from the log you posted it is doing that correctly. Of course I can't tell with this info if the channel numbers are wrong, you can check that yourself by looking a the xml file served from your tuner and see if the channel from the log matches the channel URL element in the xml file. you can get the xml file from this string: http://192.168.1.114/lineup.xml Maybe we would have better luck seeing whats wrong if you turn off dlna mode and send the swmc log after a failed attempt to play a live stream. If there is something wrong with the tuner/swmc setup we'll have much better luck catching it this way. To answer your earlier point in the thread, swmc does default to the old way of streaming if it determines that dlna doesn't work, but in this case - as far as it knows - the dlna url is fine. techywarrior 688
Interesting, the URL it is trying to play isn't in the lineup. Where is it getting the URL from? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?> -<Lineup> -<Program> <GuideNumber>15</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Azteca</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v15</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>16.999</GuideNumber> <GuideName>ITV</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v16.999</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>23.999</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Pub Acc</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v23.999</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>24.999</GuideNumber> <GuideName>CTN</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v24.999</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>97.3</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Ne Ops</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v97.3</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>97.4</GuideNumber> <GuideName>NetOps</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v97.4</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>118</GuideNumber> <GuideName>CSPAN</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v118</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>119</GuideNumber> <GuideName>CSPAN2</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v119</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>120</GuideNumber> <GuideName>CSPAN3</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v120</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>129</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KBEH</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v129</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>135</GuideNumber> <GuideName>UCSD-TV</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v135</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>136</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KDTF</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v136</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>409</GuideNumber> <GuideName>XHUAA</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v409</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>807</GuideNumber> <GuideName>COZI</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v807</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>808</GuideNumber> <GuideName>ME-TV</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v808</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>811</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Vme</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v811</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>813</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Antenna</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v813</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>814</GuideNumber> <GuideName>ThisTV_</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v814</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>815</GuideNumber> <GuideName>LiveW</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v815</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>957</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KKSM</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v957</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1005</GuideNumber> <GuideName>Fox5 HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1005</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1006</GuideNumber> <GuideName>SD 6</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1006</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1007</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KNSD HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1007</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1008</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KFMB HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1008</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1009</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KUSI HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1009</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1010</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KGTV HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1010</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1011</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KPBS HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1011</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1017</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KBNT-HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1017</URL> </Program> -<Program> <GuideNumber>1136</GuideNumber> <GuideName>KDTF HD</GuideName> <URL>http://192.168.1.114:5004/auto/v1136</URL> </Program> </Lineup> The 75.2 it is trying to tune into is the physical channel while the URLs listed in the lineup.xml are mostly virtual channel numbers (1011, etc.) All this happens automatically so not even sure what I can do about it. WMC works fine so I don't want to mess with that too much (also, you can't enter virtual channel numbers into WMC anyway). Perhaps ServerWMC will have to add some sort of mapping? (that would suck for people with lots of channels tho) Edited December 21, 2014 by techywarrior
krustyreturns 191
Yeah, that is a total fail for your lineup. I'm sure there is a fix that won't need you to change anything in wmc. Please go into the settings file of serverwmc (see debug tab) and change the following field: <Debug_ChannelDetail>false</Debug_ChannelDetail> Then save it and restart serverwmc and post the log file you have after it starts. The whole log, please zip it and put in on drop box or google drive. Or put it on my g-drive: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByNnAMYBoWvfQVBBNzFhZmNPWUE&usp=sharing Let me know when it is there. This still doesn't explain why it doesn't work in non-dlna mode. When you have time, do a log for this one as well. Edited December 21, 2014 by krustyreturns
techywarrior 688
Ok, I think the non-DLNA playback issue may have been because I didn't restart ServerWMC (if that was the case maybe a restart required message should be there like on some other settings) or something else just happened to fail. DLNA is obviously still a problem, and ideally I'd like that to work to save a lot of network traffic for me (my WMC machine is pretty removed on the network from my HDHomerun and MBS machine). Attached is a clean log with the debug you requested enabled of me trying to play a channel with DLNA enabled. krustyreturns 191
Turning off dlna shouldn't require a restart swmc to take effect.
techywarrior 688
hm, don't know why it didn't work the first time I switched off DLNA for Live TV then. But I'm not worried about that. Lets see if we can figure out the DLNA since I would imagine that I am not going to be the only person with this virtual/physical channel issue. krustyreturns 191
uh... ok. I sent PM'd you a test build (1176). You can install it over the version of swmc you have. See if it solves the problem. If it doesn't post the swmc log again.
techywarrior 688
The version you PM'd me worked perfectly with DLNA playback. I see in the log that it is using the virtual channel number for the DLNA stream so I guess you found some way to get the real and virtual channel numbers from the HDHomerun? Vicpa 559
Hi, Techy just curious what firmware version for the HD are you using? and what model? I have been using the dlna streaming for sometime and haven't had virtual channel problems manifest themselves yet. Maybe just lucky so far.... techywarrior 688
I have two HDHomerun Dual's with firmware 20140604. I suspect that the issue is more likely with the cable provider (Cox) then with the HDHomerun itself. Although I haven't looked if there are firmware updates since I bought them. techywarrior 688
You know what, this may be the answer right here: Release 20141124:HDHR4/TC/CC/DC models: Add support for tuning by physical channel when using HTTP. ... The latest firmware has support for physical channel numbers for DLNA streams. If I update the firmware I bet the old ServerWMC would work. But the update Krusty made is probably good too so anyone who can't or hasn't updated the firmware will still have working channels.
krustyreturns 191
I extracted the 'virtual' channel from the wmc merged-channel database. I thought using the 'original' channel number was all that was required, and it has been until you posted your log. I think this channel fix will work for everybody, but I need to test it with more users before next release.
