Katatonik76 2
good morning everyone. it's been 2 or 3 days that i'm trying emby server on my nas DS 120j. I am noticing a great slowness in updating the metadata in the library. Reading data (from a lenovo android tablet) is also very very slow. The nas is "blending" since I created the library by hooking up the various folders with the mp3 files inside.inside. But in your opinion, is my nas suitable for sharing a collection of about 0.5 Terabytes of music? Is this indexing time normal for the first time? Not having the intention of changing the nas model, I wanted to understand this from the beginning; because if so, better abandon the idea .. if I look at the library scan, it always seems to be at the same point, without unlocking. I also turned the nas off and on again. Is there any way to understand where indexing has come? Thank you PS: the final intention would be to connect the tablet (with emby client installed) to a DAC and then go to my home stereo
Happy2Play 8296
Server log could provider more information, but there is a chance the specs of that device it could be slow especially while still scanning. How to Report a Problem
Katatonik76 2
Hello everybody. I turned the nas back on tonight after several days of inactivity. It has been running for about 15 minutes and the media library scan has started again (about 500 GB of music). It took about 7 or 8 minutes and at the end I launched emby client from my Lenovo tablet: everything is always soooo slow. It works, but the navigation operations inside the menu are very slow. I attach log file. Thank you embyserver.txt
Luke 37112
Hi, what exactly is slow?
Solution Happy2Play 8296 Posted October 21, 2022 Solution Share Posted October 21, 2022 You need to correct your iNotify issue. The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached, or the operating system failed to allocate a required resource. 1 hour ago, Katatonik76 said: It works, but the navigation operations inside the menu are very slow. Have you tried vacuuming the database? Your device has very limited RAM but have you tried adjusting DB Cache size?
Katatonik76 2
Thanks for your suggestions. I applied both tips and now everything is faster. those values (for example) 128, are they further modifiable? How far can I go in case it gets slow again? thank you
Luke 37112
Hi, you can set them as high as you're willing to go, making sure to read the help text to learn the tradeoffs.

Your device only has 512MB of Ram, correct? But you can check your system resources and play around with the numbers to your liking.
