MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Looks like this one is also being rolled into core - from Server 4.8.0.11 release notes? * Add option when creating a user to copy data from an existing user"

ados8000 20 Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) I've been using this plugin for a little while because it's great for templates. However, I've found a bug maybe in the recent version not sure. The problem is when you use the plugin to clone a template to an existing user. All works and the user has the same watch history as they did before the settings clone. However, then the account is linked to the template in some weird way. Basically, which ever users had the template account used on it will be linked. So if user 1 starts a stream and then user 2 starts the same file half an hour later they will start at the half an hour mark, the point at which the first user is at. If I login to the template there is no watch history, it's somehow only the playback starting point. I might start with deleting the template users and uninstalling the plugin. I can just manually set the users up after the LDAP plugin imports them. I have the logs attached if interested. The first user starts "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" at 10:50 PM and the second user starts their stream at 11:40 PM. This matches exactly with the second users report their stream started at 42 minutes in and had to be rewound. Edited December 29, 2023 by GrimReaper Log deleted
ados8000 20 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 @GrimReapersorry to bring you in but can this log file be deleted please, it isn't sanitised. I will be checking Emby logs from now on as it's not sanitising as expected.

ados8000 20 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Please be aware this plugin hasn't received any updates in a long time and causes issues. It breaks the LDAP plugin as it removes the authentication provider option from the users account. How it should look: User with settings once cloned using plugin: Would not recommend using with LDAP plugin.

AFAIK this plugin has been deprecated as equivalent functionality has been implemented in 4.8+ core. Wouldn't count on getting any updates going forwards. ados8000 20 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 (edited) After reviewing configs and much trial and testing I found the vanishing 'authentication provider' drop down is caused by making them an admin. When setting 'allow user to manage server' the option vanishes and returns on untick. Additonaly it seems the plugin causes issues with the copy settings from user. All my users are clones from this plugin, when trying to make a new user with the inbuilt Emby cloning its blank. If I complete a new user creation then the next user I create the list is populated with all users. This might be coincidence but I've replicated the issue multiple times. The LDAP plugin is also having its own issues which also appeared attributed to this plugin. I'm not confident in using it so I will switch to the Emby native system even though it has less features. Do Emby plugins not accompany a warning/advisement 'do not use this has been deprecated'? Happy to hear it's being consolidated into Emby natively, hope LDAP is consolidated too.
Luke 40021 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I'll remove it from the catalog. Thanks. 1
