above1 41
So, I'm trying to decide whether to get the HDTC-2US or the HDHR4-2US. Is there any benefit in having the H.264 transcoding done at the tuner? Will is make changing channels faster? Less stress on the network? My current rig is a 4th Gen i5. I want to stream OTA HD channels to my devices that support live tv via MB3 although both should be able to do that regardless. Any pointers would be most helpful! Thanks above1 Edited September 2, 2014 by above1
krustyreturns 191
My two cents: I cannot see why on-board transcoding would make channel change faster. Also, on the xbmc forum users have reported problems with the transcoding and have been switching it off in the tuner settings.

I'll just go with the HDHR4-2US and save me a couple dollars. I'm sure it'll get the job done just as good as anything else. above1
