Need some help with DLNA on LG C1 TV

Hi

I am trying to get my LG C1 to play video's via DLNA from my Emby server while we wait for the app to be approved.

I think I have managed to work out that Emby is telling the TV that the file is not compatible with it. The file will play fine when I put it into a video library and I use the TV to go to there to play it.

I have tried to modify the DLNA profile for LG Smart TV to add h265 to the video codec and removed dts from the audio codec.

I am not sure if Emby is using that profile or how to make it use it. I could really find an identifier in the profile to point to the TV. I looked in the support sections under DLNA but there is nothing on the 2 pages that were there.

Hi Luke,

That didn't help.embyserver.txt

Why I was asking that I didn't think emby was using the LG DLNA profile is because I now have the 3 codec's listed, h264, h265, hevc in the profile

What was in the logs only mentioned h264, so to me it looks like it is looking at a different profile to verify against, as I thought I would see the 3 codec's above in the log file for the device?

That's just the transcoding codec being used if direct play is not supported.

Does your network have multiple subnets? If you look at the server log you'll see numerous 401 response errors. You're running into the same problem as this user here:

It is actually a defect in the server, but only happens in rare situations. The server is erroneously rejecting the stream based on network conditions. If you don't use mulitple subnets, you might be having the same problem but for a different reason. Your network settings in Emby Server might be configured in such a way that the ip address of your LG appears to be outside of your local network.

I am not aware of using multiple subnets. I did read that one and looked in the log at the IP address, to make sure they were all 192.168.x

Those multiple 401 responses are for the same IP address of the TV, and they are just me trying different files.

What I know I can do is view pictures from the LG TV which is from Emby DLNA.

I might try and re-install the server, as network configuration isn't something I am very familiar with. Port forwarding and opening ports is about my limit :)

Emby network settings are attached. I just tried a whole lot of other file types, avi a h.264 MKV, a mpeg and they all failed so it must be something with the network

  • Solution

Your lan networks setting is what's causing this. Did you read the help text underneath that? The way you configured it means any ip address other than that will be considered outside your local network. These are advanced options that are best left at defaults unless you have a specific reason to change them.

Thanks Luke.

I have just got it working, as it was that field I had the IP address of the server in it, when it should be blank. You bet me to it with your reply.
