Emby for Android receives major update, now playing with LibVLC
Emby for Android 2.3.79 has been released to the play store and now features a new video player built around LibVlc, the same engine that powers VLC.
What this means is you can expect less server transcoding, more stable playback, and faster performance. In future releases you can expect even more enhancements that will take advantage of what LibVlc has to offer.
Redesigned In-Video Menus
You'll find the menus much easier and more responsive to navigate.
Support for Gestures
Now you can easily change brightness and volume during playback with easy vertical swipes.
Chromecast Improvements
The release also features a number of fixes for Chromecast. We apologize for the delay in getting these fixes out to you.
Simplified Layouts
Many of the layouts have been simplified to reduce the amount of on-screen information. Just swipe and enjoy.
Other Changes
- Replace home screen, photo and channel tabs with easy swipe tabs
- Add new social sharing feature
- Support hardware menu button to open left nav drawer
