Tupsi 4 Posted March 14, 2019 Share Posted March 14, 2019 I upgraded from an earlier beta (think it was .10 or .12), sadly the db changed and now I can not go back as this version seems to have been compiled for freebsd 12 while my freenas still has 11.2. I got a warning on the command line, but after I said "no" it still installed it anyway, so I guess I now either have to wait till a new beta is out which is kinda nicer to my system or go back to the stable release in the hope it now works with my freenas freebsd (moved to beta over christmas because of that ffmpeg problem). I am glad you have updated the ports tree with the recent stable, that will eliminate a lot of problems in the future. We just have to wait until 4.2 makes it into the FreeNAS quarterly package tree. sluggo45 47 Posted March 20, 2019 Share Posted March 20, 2019 If you are already on the 4.1.x beta train you can't downgrade to 4.0.x whether the plugin/port is available or not, FYI. Database is incompatible. You can use the server backup plugin, export watched data, etc. to make the rebuild easier, but you will have to rebuild if you go back. I allready learned that the hard way after having a fucked up upgraded 4.1.x with the latest 12 issues and FreeNAS :-) So I just installed a new one from scratch and clicked like half an hour the "already watched" buttons on the new installation... Still, for future reference, Trakt will work, if you're willing to export data to it, then re-import it. That method gets problematic for multiple users, but for single it's fine. chaosmonger777 0 Posted March 31, 2019 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Just out of curiosity: why is the beta build on FreeBSD 12? FreeBSD users tend not to jump on the newest train. In my experience they (including me) tend to wait till 12.1 or 12.2 is out. Normally commercial software continues to build on 11 and adds the dependency for the 11 libs (https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/misc/compat11x/) in the port. Is there a special reason for this? It was probably requested by someone, and the Emby staff knows it's technically the latest supported release (though I agree with you that most FreeBSD users are pretty conservative about updating major releases) so they moved it, unaware it would break the beta's for FreeNAS users as well as any other FreeBSD user on 11.x. It's been said before but the simplest way for the Emby devs to fix this is to just go back to compiling it for 11.x (11.2) because FreeBSD users who are using 12 have the easy option to create a jail based off 11.2 whereas it does not work the opposite way.
