davesurfer 14
So just installed Emby Theater, I've been finding that when adding new movies, no info comes with it, like there's no description, no actors and I also can't resume it when it's stopped. I used to use metabrowser to fetch the metadata for everything, now I just set up Emby server to fetch all that stuff for me. It gets the cover and the title, but that's about it. Thanks! Huh I think I solved my own problem, for those few that didn't resume and didn't have actor info and synopsis, it was because I had added the metadata in with Metabrowser, then copied to the media server and then there was a conflict between that metadata and Emby's. So I deleted the metadata files created by Metabrowser, moved and recopied the folder with the movie and now it's all fine. What I'm wondering is, how can I easily remove the metadata from what Metabrowser put in there, an re-add all my content without having to go through every folder. There are a lot of movies that don't have actor pictures in them.

Luke 37065
ok. why not just use emby to create nfo. you do realize that metabrowser is no longer being updated, right?
davesurfer 14
ok. why not just use emby to create nfo. you do realize that metabrowser is no longer being updated, right? Oh yeah I know metabrowser wasn't being updated, I saw the signs earlier on. I have turned on the options (I'm sure all of them?) to ensure that Emby fetches the metadata, and it is creating .nfo files. It's just that it seems that when there are the new Emby-generated .nfo files and the all the other .xml crap in the movie folder at the same time, it conflicts or something, because most actors pictures don't display and sometimes info is missing. So my question was, how do I remove all the .xml metadata (generated by Metabrowser) and ensure that Emby goes through all the movie folders and puts it's info in there instead? I could manually go through every folder and delete these files, but that would be extremely tedious! I guess I could do a search for all .jpg and .xml files and just do a blanket delete on all of them right? Solution Luke 37065 Posted December 31, 2017 Solution Share Posted December 31, 2017 Yes you could do that, and also make sure to uninstall the xml metadata plugin if you have it installed. thanks.
davesurfer 14
Yes you could do that, and also make sure to uninstall the xml metadata plugin if you have it installed. thanks. Ok, so I removed the .xml and .jpgs and now most items don't have covers! When I start browsing, the covers are small and landscape format, not the nice movie cover format! I guess I should've left my jpegs in there, but I assumed it would automatically get all the covers. Regarding the xml metadata plugin, I didn't install that for Emby Theater as I just installed it. I was recently using the WMC Classic. So I went to Expert>Metadata Manager in the server dashboard and selected the Movies and TV libraries and selected Refresh Metadata and Replace all Metadata. So maybe this will download everything properly? Maybe I have to let it refresh the metadata, too impatient? Here's what it looks like so far (only some have full proper covers): Edited December 31, 2017 by davesurfer
Luke 37065
If you removed existing image files then what did you expect to happen? You removed images and that explains what you see. If you want new images downloaded now you'll need to refresh those particular titles. Personally I would have left the images, deleted the XML files, and just uninstalled the XML plugin. I figured emby server would replace missing metadata and images. It did eventually, so it's all good now, after the Refresh All Metadata and Replace All Metadata, several hours later it seems to have done a good job of finding new covers and everything.
