You might want to run windows chkdsk to try and scan for disk errors.

Hi Luke.

Thanks on a second go it has found errors in a bad cluster & is replacing them. Hopefully this fixes it, I will let you know.

I think I have resolved this in the past by deleting the library.db file in the data folder and then rescanning. To be on the safe side, you can rename the file rather than deleting it.

Bad sectors can be a sign of imminent drive failure.  I'd recommend backing up your files immediately, and possibly looking at drive replacement.  Don't want to loose all your hard work you have put into your media collection. ;)

Not necessarily. I have had a number of drives that worked stably for a long time with a few bad sectors. I do agree that a backup of the media library is advised. It seems that chkdsk fixed his immediate errors. Now he is left with a corrupt database file. The only way I have found to correct this issue is to delete the library.db files and recreate it with a rescan.

There are several topics on Malformed database errors and it is not always the library.db.
