not sure, there might be a way to set up a hot key that calls an add-on action and then you just need a way of sending that key press (remote or keyboard) to your device to trigger the show emby user dialog from the embycon add-on.

How do I disable trailers in the Android/Fire TV Emby app?
rcsnoopdog replied to rcsnoopdog's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I know man - I hear you but been using EMBY for a very long time & already new this, sorry if i was flippant, its for a family of Ukrainians I have been helping out & I have spent all day since 10am working to get an old ps3 & Wii up & running for them and my patience is completely gone, this on a firestick was also something else i wanted to give them but don't matter as GrimReaper sorted it with removing the trailers altogether with unchecking intros - there collection of movies & tv shows got rather small when I filtered just the ones with Ukrainian subs but still plenty just did not want to tease with movies they cant really watch, they are young girls aged 5 & 6 , anyways with this - the ps3 & wii considering they have never even played or heard of a game console there minds should be considerable blown, I would imagine they wont even stick on emby , anyways my mind is completely melted because of it all & may have come across in my message - sorry -
Went to request this feature and saw there was already this thread. Could we have the option to select a certain theme based on night/day mode on devices? For example, iPhone and android apps could switch automatically between the black theme, and Apple TV theme based on what the phone is switched to.

For anyone still looking for a solution to this, SUPtoSRT.com can handle the PGS/SUP → SRT conversion directly in the browser. The workflow is: PGS subtitle → extracted .sup file → OCR → editable SRT Upload the .sup file containing the PGS subtitle track, select the subtitle language, run the conversion, review the recognized text, and download the SRT. https://suptosrt.com/ If the PGS subtitle is still embedded inside an MKV, you first need to extract the subtitle track as a .sup file using MKVToolNix or FFmpeg. After that, the SUP file can be converted to SRT with the tool. This can be useful with Emby when PGS subtitles cause transcoding on certain devices and you would rather use a text-based SRT subtitle. Since PGS is image-based, the conversion uses OCR, so it is still worth reviewing the resulting text for recognition errors.

How do I disable trailers in the Android/Fire TV Emby app?
visproduction replied to rcsnoopdog's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I wasn't clear. That was just an example. If you have a lot of trailer copies in every media / trailers subdirectory, then the user choice of media gets trailers that are similar. For your user who has whatever foreign preference might then get trailers that match their preferences. I know that is not what you asked to do, but I just wanted to mention that having a lot of actually trailers results in more targeted trailer choices. It's not an answer of how to turn trailers off, per user. You are also asking about a language trailer preference, which is a different issue. If you don't like my answer above, just ignore it. -
Why do trailers in the windows app have ads but not the web app?
softworkz replied to Mahinepua's topic in Windows & Xbox
One reason I can imagine might be the fact that Google doesn't have anything available for recognizing and tracking you when running inside the app. The Windows app is running the UI from file:// urls, which means that there are no remote http requests to (google) servers which set cookies (or rather some smarter replacements) by which Google can recognize you and determine how many ads you have been shown already. When the can't determine that, they might assume you are trying to trick them in some way and showing you more ads therefore. When you thnk about from a different angle, it makes even more sense: Even though the client is loading content from remote servers, it never navigates to any website, it only hangs around in the realm of the local file scheme and none of their usual identification tricks are working - they're flying blind more or less, which is pretty unusual. In this regard, we probably shouldn't wonder when they are showing different behavior. What I'm alluding to, implies the overarching concept that they are tracking you and doing some bookkeeping with regards to the total amount of ads shown to you within a certain timespan, making sure that it remains slightly below of becoming a major annoyance. If you don't let them do this, they are penalizing it as you could also be trying to intentionally trick them. The above is just a theory, but that's exactly the kind of things they are doing. Each time when they're adding new browser features to "protect your privacy", it just means that they are killing off competitors after they have already switched to a newer and better method for tracking you, which the others haven't figured out yet. -
The emby apps almost all use emby.mydomain.com/emby there are a few bits outside that (which I have documented), but if you allow all that in CF rules, then you can block the main subdomain emby.mydomain.com. The web apps redirect to /web anyway so allow that and you are covered. this makes for a secure/safe online system al 100% of the bots are blocked at CF level then. CF remains a technical beast and is not for everyone.

JBerndt started following Can't seem to figure out how to display m3u lists
-
I selected "Live TV" then "Add Source" I put the url in for a playlist and then saved. But it does not show up in the client. I'm not sure how to select a different source in the client. It only displays the first ,m3u file. It's confusing, what I am asking is in the dashboard when I select live tv the other three m3u sources don't show up. The dashboard just loads the first one and doesn't give me the option of choosing one of the other three. Help

Late to the party but want to confirm: It WAS the Watch History plugin: -removed the duplicate movies from the scanned folder -forced rescan of database (one copy of the movies still showed up but errored out when clicked on to play) -removed the Watch History plugin -forced rescan of database (duplicate movies disappeared) -replaced movies in scanned folder -forced rescan of database - everything now looks perfect All of this was done on the version of emby server available 2026-08-14.

Hey, I'm bringing this up again as I've hit it and I think this is really unfixable without a code fix. (Luke has mentioned this before). I've gone through the exercise of moving all my TV Shows to an unreferenced folder, refreshing library files. Vacuuming the database upon each reboot (except the one where I shutdown, deleted the cache files, and then manually started up again). I've scanned files, rescanned metadata folder, completely removed the empty TV Show library (there is no library of type TV show), redid all the things (scan, vacuum, delete cache), even uninstalled Auto-Organize, re-installed Auto-Organize. There are still series showing up in the Auto-Organize list. This with no TV Show library on my server, multiple scans and refreshes and vacuums. At this point, I don't know what other step I can take to resolve the issue.

Best Way To Handle Mass File Path Change
bugman9317 replied to bugman9317's topic in General/Windows
Thanks for the reply. I tried to let Emby do a scan of the files in their new location, and it kept getting stuck at like 52.3% for 13 hours. I ended up deciding to just do a fresh install and scan. I started my largest library of TV shows this morning, and it's at 98% finished. I didn't really want to redo everything, but this way will probably be quicker in the end. -
Add Refresh Metadata permission to non-Admin users
TMCsw replied to CBers's topic in Feature Requests
Although I don’t have this problem, perhaps I think a better way to handle your problem would be to add a scheduled task option in the library settings to: This way, any missing metadata would be added (if available) as often as the admin chooses, while not giving any non-admin users access to mess with your stuff. -
How do I disable trailers in the Android/Fire TV Emby app?
visproduction replied to rcsnoopdog's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I have around 75% of media content with actual custom trailers files and I've noticed that trailers match the genre and release date of whatever main content a user chooses. If I choose a foreign film to watch then the trailer previews will be mostly foreign. I think having many actual trailer content helps get the experience closer to what you mentioned. Of course, it's a lot of work to find so many trailers of decent quality especially difficult when many sites protect even trailer downloads. There are some sites that do not. Even the production owner of trailer content is often fine with whomever grabs a copy. It is promoting their media. -

You can put any image you like and name it appropriately, it doesn't have to be a flag. Personally, I'm using material icon Closed Captions (CC), but as said, you can literally use any image you fancy. -
