I honestly don't get that cause that is not a read only file system. I and the system have full access to everything on my external drives, and I'm assuming Emby has full access since it can scan my media and create libraries without issue. That said that's a old path. A new one would be /mnt/My Files/Docs/Backups/Emby Backups/. I just corrected the path and I'm still getting the error.

TV Show Status — TMDB-powered Returning/Ended/Cancelled badges for series
ginjaninja replied to Blueskies278's topic in Plugins
i look forward to seeing the next version. For me it is the Season level granularity that will make the plugin indespensible. "is the season ready to watch?" , is the main question everyone in the family asks. -

TOS 7 Stable and Latest Emby Issue Upgrading
brucesnelgrove replied to Racerprose's topic in TerraMaster NAS
Thanks for the reply. Couple of questions. Which folder is the correct folder? Data-or a nested folder within, Metadata - or a nested folder? Also I noticed a "cd"command - do I have to do that to before doing execution on the next line? Also, has the Mod1 third party app been updated for TOS 7? .Net experience, terminal commands, other IT skills should not be required after every Emby/TOS upgrade. Since I've known Emby-years and years. And to have a Beta as the only "guess" that it will resolve the issues is not fair to customers.( I was a premiere customer until this camel-back-breaking issue turned up.) FYI - I tried to upgrade to 4.9.5 several times, both through TOS and manually. It was rejected every.single.time. I decided to try on more time through TOS, and it took. Music is playing through Emby-which it didn't do in 4.9.3-I had to get a separate app . The Emby TM relationship is a disgrace to their customers. If I could nuke TOS and replace it I would. As for Emby, no difference between Plex and Jellyfin. I have used all three extensively. I used to repair old carburetor cars in the 70s-80s.Old. Clunky, had to appease car gods to get it running. Emby/TM reminds of that. Sorry for the rant. Pay it forward. - Today

TV Show Status — TMDB-powered Returning/Ended/Cancelled badges for series
Blueskies278 replied to Blueskies278's topic in Plugins
Thanks — that's genuinely useful feedback, and you've found a real gap. Taking your points in order. "Ready to binge" needing a username — you're right, and you don't have to use it Your instinct is correct: whether a season has finished airing is a fact about the show, not about you. There's already a mode that works that way. Set What the overlay reports to "Season has finished airing" rather than "Ready to binge". No username, no warning, and every user on the server sees the same badge. The difference between the two: Season has finished airing asks only "is there anything further scheduled?" Nothing to do with your watch history. Ready to binge asks that and "have you watched it?", so it can hide the badge once you've seen everything. That second question is the only reason a username exists — it's the one thing the server genuinely cannot answer without being told who's asking. So it's a choice between the two, not a requirement. If you don't want the per-user behaviour, don't use the per-user mode. The Simpsons S36 not showing Complete — not an anomaly, and your second guess was close It wasn't rapid clicking. The plugin works at series level, not season level. All it stores per show is the status, the next air date and the last air date — there's no season data in there at all. So "Complete" really means "this series has nothing further scheduled". The Simpsons has an episode due on 27 Sept, so that's false, and it can never say Complete while the show is still running — regardless of S36 being finished. Bottom works because the whole series ended in 1995, so there genuinely is nothing more coming. That makes "Season has finished airing" a misleading name on my part for a continuing show. It's accurate for a show that's finished or between seasons, and wrong-headed for one mid-run. I'll reword it. Season Premiere and Season Finale tags — not implemented Not a bug, and not something you've configured wrongly: the overlay only attaches to series items. Episodes never reach it, so there's nothing to tag S03E01 or S03E06 with. Different overlays for posters and thumbs — half of this exists already The half that works: posters and thumbnails are already independent. What to badge on thumbnails has Nothing, Only 'Complete' and Everything, so you can have full status on posters and only Complete on Continue Watching, which is close to what you described. The half that doesn't: choosing series status for one and season or episode status for the other. That needs season-level data the plugin doesn't currently fetch. Season images wouldn't unlock it Reasonable thought, but artwork isn't the constraint. The constraint is the data: one record per series with three fields in it. Season granularity means fetching TMDB's season endpoints and caching per season — a real piece of work, but not one that depends on you having season posters. Worth saying plainly that what you're describing — season status on thumbs, episode tags on episodes, series status on posters — is a bigger change than it looks, and I'm not going to pretend it's a quick setting. But it's the most coherent feature request I've had for this plugin and I've written it down as described. "Extra large I will increase the extra large. The air date mismatch Fair enough. It only bites if you're outside the US watching US shows, and if it's not bothering you there's nothing you need to do. I will Update you about the bug fixes -

Sadly not, Emby has no native WatchParty support yet, but EWP 3.0 mimics Emby's UI to a degree, so there is some sort of familiarity. And it is mobile friendly so you can just use chrome or any mobile browser.

Has Anyone Integrated AI With Emby? Looking for Real-World Tools, Setups & Dev Plans

Personally I don't need an Android app, I just wish I could use it on Emby for Android

@Lukeit seems transcoding has some problems with the subtitle. I believe this is a different issue. Let's focus on this transcoding issue here. Main problem is persisting on the UI only (see screenshot). Both in "stats for nerds" and in Emby Server's Dashboard status show "Direct Play". But it is 100% sure it's transcoding, as I dont have 50+ Mbps link. Only approx 10Mbps matching perfectly with the auto-selected transcoding bitrate. Moreover I have the transcode logs for proof.

After running into problems after I was forced to upgrade to TOS 7, I recently went over a few previous posts and came across yours. I know it's long overdue, but I think a heads'd up is in order. Appreciate your reply, but: I had to look up what you were referring to and I have no .NET experience. I have very limited line editing experience. For Emby to expect the end-user to have these skill sets in order to get Emby to work in a simple scenario is unrealistic. While I appreciate your input, if Emby is depending on this, Then Emby fails. Solutions shouldn't be based on coding exposure or networking experience Turn off the lights. Lock the door. Go home.

Emby only supports Intro and Credits. To be more precise, Emby only has IntroStart, IntroEnd and CreditsStart. So only these will get a skip button. Somewhat related: You could ask for more support in this area.
-
I don't know if I am reading correctly, but when it comes to recaps there's no button overlay on the app or does it just automatically skip these ? Does the button appear for Intro's and Outros (credits) ?

We are already trying to get EWP to the Android market, atm it's a rough internal beta since I need to learn Androids SDK from scratch. So if you know somebody able to make Android apps, our api's are both well documented.
-
Movies needs a little workaround, since this plugin depends on embys intro markers. You can install ChapterAPI from the plugin store, set IntoStart/IntroEnd markers for your movie manually which lets you choose your favorite scenes because you can freely choose the timestamps. After that run a library scan, and Metadata refresh, then run the Plugins task. I am experimenting on movies so it chooses random locations and cuts out %maxlength% for a theme.

Emby Watch Party - Synchronized Viewing for Friends & Family
Oratorian replied to Oratorian's topic in Tools and Utilities
The newest branch extended to Jellyfin. Our Backend API is deckedout quite good, and our documentations are all on github. So If you know somebody who is able to build an Android app against it. Go ahead. Controbutions to EWP are welcome, not matter how. -

Has Anyone Integrated AI With Emby? Looking for Real-World Tools, Setups & Dev Plans
reneboulard replied to Airbender's topic in Tools and Utilities
I've been experimenting with local LLMs (Large Language Models) to enhance my Emby experience, specifically for analyzing the weekly EPG and making personalized watching and recording suggestions. Here's how it works: The LLM reviews what shows and movies I've watched recently, builds a viewing profile based on my habits, and then scans the upcoming EPG to recommend content that matches my interests. To make this work, I built custom tools that the LLM can call to interact with the Emby API. These tools also cross-reference upcoming programs with web searches to pull in available ratings, reviews, and metadata from external sources. A key design decision was to filter the Emby API data within the tools themselves before sending it to the LLM. This way, only the relevant information (titles, ratings, genres, airtimes) is passed to the model for processing, which keeps the context lean and the responses fast. The setup runs on a cron schedule, and I receive push notifications only when there's something worth my attention. -
If you have an aversion to line editing, how are you with manually installing the latest Emby version on your TM NAS? While jumping to the beta track does have some risks, I've been running it on my F4-423 without any issues, but that does not guarantee your experience will be the same, as it is beta. Considering all that, this is the easiest route, You can find the most recent beta here --> https://emby.media/terramaster-server.html Assuming you have an Intel based TM NAS, download the file linked at 64-bit (TOS 5+) That said, this previous post gave instructions on how to update the file. It gives good info but I don't think you'll have the 'nano' command if you haven't installed Modbase1 from the Community App section, so you may want to do that first. The terminal session can be started by logging into the TOS7 web UI and launching "Terminal".

vdatanet started following Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
-
Hi all, I've been building Atrium, a native tvOS app for home media servers, and as of version 1.2 it works with Emby. It's on the App Store, it's free, and it stays free: no in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads, no tracking, and no Atrium account — you point it at your own server, sign in with your own user, and that's it. (It speaks to Jellyfin servers too; the app doesn't ask you which, it works it out when you connect.) --- With Emby, HDR video is tone-mapped to SDR --- Here is why, as precisely as I can put it. On Apple platforms the player decides the display mode from the multivariant playlist *before* it downloads a single segment. It reads the attributes on #EXT-X-STREAM-INF — VIDEO-RANGE, CODECS — to work out what the stream is and to configure the display. Emby's transcoding manifest currently carries neither, so tvOS has nothing to act on and never switches the TV into HDR mode. But an app can't use that. If it just plays the stream, the display stays in SDR, and PQ content shown on an SDR display looks washed out — worse than not trying. So Atrium does the honest thing instead: it tells the server it accepts SDR, the server tone-maps, and what you see is correct. Less than the file holds, but right. One thing that makes this cheaper than it sounds: the transcode currently comes out 8-bit (yuv420p) even when the command line asks for main10, and PQ at 8 bits bands visibly. So what is actually being given up is smaller than "no HDR" makes it sound. --- What would change it --- Populating VIDEO-RANGE and CODECS on #EXT-X-STREAM-INF (and SUPPLEMENTAL-CODECS where Dolby Vision applies), reflecting what the stream really is. That's the whole ask — it isn't a change to what the transcoder produces, only to how it's described. On my side the HDR path is already written and shipping; asking for HDR again instead of SDR is a one-line change and a release. I'd be glad to test any build against a 4K HDR/DV library and report back with player-side measurements: which variant is chosen, what the player reports the range as, and whether the display actually switches. --- Everything else --- Libraries, search, Continue Watching, the Apple TV top shelf, subtitles through the native tvOS picker, music with a proper queue. If something doesn't work the way you expect, I'd genuinely like to hear about it — this is the first release Emby users have had their hands on, and you'll find things I can't. https://apps.apple.com/app/atrium-media-player/id6777638751

BDMV folder playback broken in Emby Server 4.9.5.0 – BDMV directory is incorrectly opened as a regular file

That's easy can't use subtitles if I do the player crashes. The player stutters, freezes off and on. All video's! Will not play dvd folders About half the time the player will not play mp4's or mpg's. Comes back with error has no codec installed. Those SAME exact video's work just fine no problem with VLC/windows media player. Also when using the skip ahead button it either doesn't work or if it does it's very erratic. One click suppose to be 10sec but ends up 50% of the time moving forward or backward 1-2min. NONE of this happens in VLC just Emby. Find attached Emby Log. Thanks embyserver.txt

TOS 7 Stable and Latest Emby Issue Upgrading
brucesnelgrove replied to Racerprose's topic in TerraMaster NAS
Hidy Ho Luke, The last time I upgraded Emby to 4.9.3, I experienced the problem of "no streams available". That problem never got resolved. To this day, I a different tool to playback my audio-because Emby can't. I upgraded to 4.9.5 - didn't take-you didn't believe me last time. I upgraded to TOS 7. All configs got wiped-including my playlists-again, Without exception, every Emby/TOS upgrade has been a complete nightmare - and I've been dealing with Emby off and on for 10 years`- never, never has it gone smoothly. I am totally unqualified to do any kind of line editing, but I'm I'm willing to give it a go. What editing tools do I need to do this? How much extra is it going to cost me to correct this? Can you specify the line #s that need editing? What screen shots would you like? I sent many to you last time and nothing got resolved. To this day, I can't use Emby to playback music, but hey, another audio player works just fine. Just not Emby. Why is it every Emby/TOS upgrade is a complete nightmare? I am really looking forward to a solution. My history with Emby has been a history of long painful excercises that involves hours of time, and multiple back and forth interactions, to the point where I give up and start again . -
